Damn dude, I missed the story, what happened??

 

Ah nice, I prefer the look of small pods, kinda want 4 on the front bumper. But 2 8 inchers on the front wouldn't look bad

I had a dual row but love the sleeker single row. Both costed $100 on Amazon

 

The VG30E in my Z has a lot of vacuum actuated stuff, including all of the air box (three separate lines going into the drivers cabin just to control air doors and mixers), 2 on the firewall for controlling the heater water valve, all of those HVAC ones I mentioned go into a vacuum canister first so you can use the HVAC stuff without the engine on for a while and that canister is in the front bumper so lots of lines running around just for that. It also has vacuum solenoids for routing vacuum to the FPR from manifold or venting FPR to atmosphere, and again more vacuum solenoids and lines for EGR, even the AIV (exhaust air injection) is vacuum controlled and has a solenoid as well so lots of lines.

I'll be cutting out the FPR solenoid, it's not necessary (it was only used when hot starting so the fuel pressure would bump up but the vacuum isn't strong on a hot start anyway and they don't struggle), the AIV I will retain, its a foolproof smog system that almost never fails on these, but I'll clean up the lines so that it runs cleanly instead of just draped across the intake piping. The EGR I'm also going to retain since it functions and I may have to pass emissions one more time with it, although I plan to delete that when I turbo it and it's vacuum line can be shortened to only 2" if I use the hardline that was previously for the FPR. All of the HVAC lines I'm going to cut back into the cab and join into a manifold in the dash so only a single 3/16 line comes into the engine bay and vacuum canister. That'll cut out all of the spaghetti. All new rubber will be good for this car, all of the vacuum lines are 31 years old and super cracked or torn.

 

Thanksgiving weekend will be 8 years. I was in a rising right turn and ran over a small patch of cinders in the middle of my lane. (Arizona uses cinder rocks for snow) It was like driving on marbles. Bike rolled out from under me. I have 6 titanium plates in my arm

Oh I forgot there is one huge 3/8 line that goes to the cruise control too haha

 

I’m starting to appreciate Toyota for switching to predominantly electronically actuated motors.

 

The single because it's a spot the dual my brother bought 2 years ago and it acted more flood then spot. Top image is low beams with rough country 8" bars. And the other is just low beams. I am trying led headlights and hate them

 

This was super common in the 70s/80s/90s. As electric actuators got cheaper and more reliable the vacuum stuff went away. But vacuum stuff was always pretty damn reliable, just not very clean. Some cars even had vacuum windshield wipers and sprayers. I don't mind fixing it all up since it works, just old lines.

 

Are those hoses marked? How can you tell what goes where?

 

Ah nice, the two pods I have right now are weird, you just turn them on with the headlights off and they don't seem like shit, but them with the headlights on seems way brighter then just headlights
