For me, it's likely the pedal itself needing adjustments. Or might be the PLASTIC master cylinder! :eek:o_O wtf Toyota?!

That one is crazy. The line pressures are not great compared to the brakes, but even cast M/C have their issues, esp considering the number of deep cycles that a clutch sees.

Blows my mind man. I'm not gonna cut mine apart, but :fingerscrossed: that it's only plastic on the outside.

I believe it is plastic through and through. I came across that discussed in other threads when searching for the accumulator delete.

If anyone is used to smoothly downshifting an MT into 1st and just can't seem to do it in their Taco, I can definitely say for me it was the accumulator. I've been doing this for fun in situations where I normally wouldn't just because I now can.

What I have noticed with almost a year of having no accumulator on mine is just about everything you do that involves clutch usage is smoother and more controlled. So I can fully agree with you on this.

Agreed. It is a bit ridiculous that we had to do it. I'm not really sure that it helps noobs in the end? I need to get my daughter (13) back in the drivers seat to see. She drove it twice before the delete.

Where this mod really shines for me is backing a trailer. With the accumulator in place you could not predict where clutch engagement was going to happen accurately. With out the accumulator it is in the same place in the pedal swing every time. Makes things like backing up and over a curb for instance much easier. I park my trailers in my side yard. Being able to predict and control the truck easier when I have to back over the curb into my lawn is priceless to me.

I haven't towed anything yet, but reverse is half the problem that it was. I am not slipping at all, well not more than getting going in 1st.

    Thanks again!

This just keeps getting better and better. Super excited to see if he can make a replacement part. Redbeard is right, backing a trailer, especially a camper just sucks.......

I tow probably 3-4 days a week so it has been an extremely useful mod for me. I am certain that I would have had to replace a clutch already if I hadn’t removed it. I drag my truck and welding trailer through some really rough and remote areas building fence braces.

I've read some of your posts about getting in and out of those spots.

Our family has always wanted a travel trailer. The Taco is our first vehicle that could tow anything substantial, and the smallest TT that everyone likes would be in the upper 4,000lb empty. It's good to hear your experience with it. We have no immediate plans, but the possibility is on the horizon.

I have the accumulator in hand. I think it arrived yesterday, but I was in the garage until super late and never checked the mail.

Looks easy enough to make, we just have to figure out whatever is pressed down inside of the holes. Looks like a brass seat, but I can't place the design standard. I may have to research when I get back from vaca, unless somebody can figure it out before I do.

    Excellent.

Feel free to cut it open if you want to. I wasn't sure if that was an insert or just machined that way. The elbow had similar features.
