2019 Bed Cover Options

I have a Gator hybrid and am veyv happy. It is a vinyl trifold with a hard panel below the vinyl to add security and regidity. I like the look and it was a little cheaper than the hard trifolds. No drilling necessary, you can use the factory rail system, and it comes off in 5-10 mins with one person .

I was thinking the exact same thing. Weird. I asked when they were getting their 2019s 2 weeks ago and they said they don’t know. Told them to call me when they found out. Nothing.

 

A Solid Fold 2.0 is a very good cover but for security go with a DiamondBack. It’s a little expensive but will last longer then the truck.

 

I'm very happy with the OEM soft top tri-fold. Easy to remove if you have to in a jiffy, and fits in my back seat. If I needed a hard top to stand on, I might have considered one.

Just curious about the relative security of the tri-fold bed covers and something like a Leer camper shell? I understand brand and model may vary but am trying to ask a general question. Of course maybe I am trying to compare apples and oranges.

 

My brother carries expensive camera equipment for work.. he had a camper shell for years. Had it broken into several times. He's since gone to a roll up soft tonneau. Nobody has ever tried getting in. Out of site, out of mind.

 

I put a Roll N Lock on mine and really like it...I don't hear to much about these covers but have been very happy with mine.

 

I am very happy with my tonneau cover. It is Lund Genesis Elite model, trifold soft cover. It's been on my 2017 AC Tacoma for about 9 months. Very secure. Zero leaks. The "Elite" model uses a premium cover material manufactured by the Harrtz Co., which produces materials for OEM convertible tops. The Elite material has a woven appearance like you would see on a convertible top on a luxury car.

Many detailed YouTube videos on the product and its installation. It went on fairly easy. Also, simple to remove and reinstall. It attaches to the OEM rails in the bed utilizing a clamp system. No need to drill or otherwise modify the truck.

I am sure there are other good products out there. Lund is the only one I have direct experience with.

 

I went with a tri-fold hard top from Rugged Liner. I think it is a bit pricey for what it is, but it seems to be made well and installation was simple. I liked the fact that it could be completely removed quickly. I was also surprised how well it sealed out the water - I get very little in. I also considered the roll top designs but opted out because I was concerned how they work (or not work!) in freezing/ice weather.

 

This is what I went with. Easily rolls back out of my way when I need the bed, but with metal slats lining inside more secure and can't be cut like canvas top alone.

It allows very little water inside and feel good about carrying luggage, golf clubs, etc. underneath securely. And when I need to haul furniture, yard tools, etc., it rolls back out of my way easily.

 

I’ve had my MX4 for over a year and I’m very happy with it. Any reason, besides price, you’re straying away?

Your post got me to look at the Encore. I actually preferred the rail relocation compared to other covers that connected to the rails and consumed space on them.

 

This is the model I installed yesterday. The low profile look, ability to open/close tailgate without messing with the cover and keyable accessable front panel was key for me. I debated getting a cover that could open all the way, but found the ability to open the front panel just too damn convenient for my use.
