    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
My buddy went through this, and had FasTrak... They suspended his car registration. It took him nearly a year to clear it up.

    Story Time -

I took my Taco in for his first service (5K). I requested the TSB 0062-18, that EVERYONE swears by. I also asked them to change my blinkers to 5 blinks when you toss it halfway. He said okay to the TSB, and said they can't do the 5 blinks.. Whatever no big deal. I go back to work and pick it up an hour and a half later.

I get there and he tells me they won't do the TSB unless the customer has complained about it..? Then proceeded to tell me to stop reading up on "all of those forums online". Keep in mind this is the pencil pushing desk jockey. I thought it'd be convenient to have a Toyota dealership within walking distance to my work, but with this BS??? Has anyone else had an issue with a dealership executing requests??

I'm taking my truck down to Chico next time.

TSBs can’t be requested, they have to be verified (usually by customer complaint, service technician can also verify, like that pencil pushing desk jockey correctly advised you).

Why you complaining about free work? You either need a TSB or you don’t, and your post and description doesn’t sound like you need it.

No need to talk shit about a guy doing his job just cuz you didn’t get what you don’t need.

I'm gonna cut you off right quick -

I wouldn't be this upset unless I thought I needed it. If I was going about it in the sense that I didn't think I needed it - I'd probably ask for any other TSB's I thought sounded "rad".

The dude was a dick about the whole thing - maybe I didn't explain it well enough. The guy wanted nothing to do with any extra work and quite frankly didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about, if you're inexperienced. But if you're a new worker don't tell me no you can't do something, ask your supervisor. The guy didn't pursue it, didn't write or type anything down regarding my complaint.

Not to mention this work isn't free - last I checked I bought this truck.

Yeah, you need to tell them what your symptoms are. If it's symptomatic of the TSB, they'll apply it. As for the 5 blinks, they should be able to that no problem, no questions asked.

I'm not sure if he needed more persistence from me - I told him exactly what it was, I told him that I have the TSB code/number. He stared at me for awhile and said okay, I gave the guy the #. The dude just seemed new -which I can respect, you can't know everything with such little experience. The dude is just doing a disservice to himself and me by not asking someone. It's whatever - truck runs, trucks fun. Just frustrating.

sounds like you're service advisor was a indifferent to your requests, which is bad customer service IMO. But anger isn't going to fix it.

Just tell them you have a stumble at take off in higher elevations. They will see the tsb fixes that safety issue and apply 062. This latest software update really does change how the truck drives for the better.

I went in and pretty much described the issue, told them if they had time it'd be great otherwise no big deal. If they hadn't installed it I probably wouldn't have cared. Got a call a few hours later saying it had been done and my truck was ready.

I honestly haven't seen that much of an improvement at high altitude.

    1) TSBs are free, and buying a truck doesn’t pay for them. If that was true, you could get any TSB at any time. You can’t. When your factory warranty is over, so are free TSBs - you can have them performed but it’s on your dime.

    2) Now you’re saying he was a dick and had no interest in what you were saying. I’d agree that he was a dick, and I’d go to another dealer.

None of that was mentioned in the first post which is why I thought you were just throwing shade for being told no.

I hope we can learn to love again. Not just for our friends, but for our futures.

Thanks to @roguegs post, $20 well spent. I’m impressed by the build quality and the small footprint. It arrive today, a new toy to play with.

I’m at Hansel getting the TSB right now. You have to tell them you have the symptoms described in the TSB. Then a tech has to verify on a test drive. Go with the tech and demonstrate the complaint, let them know that you know your shit. Then they’ll do it
