How come these are almost 100 bucks cheaper than maxtracs?
They look the same and say the same on the data sheet, they just don't have the MT logo on them?

I was thinking about buying those, but I ended up buying the original Maxtrac. I contacted Marie and she gave me a good price. :)

I'm going with maxtracs myself, it's not worth getting a crappy part just to save 100 bucks, I was just wondering who makes them,

Who knows! They are sold on Amazon under the name of Quality Suspension Advantage. Probably they're as good as maxtrac, but no one wants to take the bullet. :)

So I went out today to get all the hardware for the spindles and none of the aces near me had 5/8-11x3-1/4 hexbolt they only had the 5/8-11x3-1/2 should the extra 0.25” make a difference? And would getting grade 2 hex bolts make a difference instead of using grade 5 for the 1/4-20x1-1/4 hex bolt? Are these the right loop clamps to use? The instructions says 1/4”and 5/16” but when I went out to the store the bag said this

Any help would be great. Install is Friday:headbang::rockband:

But the spindles bring everything you need for the installation.

Yup you’re right should have opened that flat skinny box with the brake lines.

Probably you saw this tutorial already https://youtu.be/6vlaPRKqv00 but if not, it's going to be a great help! It is also a good time to replace pads and rotors if you have to, just remember, Before pushing back the caliper piston, open the bleeder just a little bit to let the fluid go out and liberate pressure. Doing this you won't messed with the ABS sensor. After the spindles installation, you'll have to bleed the brake system starting from the PR, DR, PF and ending with the DF.

I'm glad you found the container with all the hardware, and I hope your installation went well.

Just for future reference, never use a bolt strength less than the minimum required by the manufacturer. If the assembly instructions or whatever says use "Grade X", use Grade X. There are a great deal of forces and stresses at work on various components of our vehicles. The equipment must be able to withstand those repeated forces, and are designed to do so. Imagine a bolt failing as you drive 70mph down the freeway.

The grade of a bolt is indicative of it's material of construction it's physical properties, specifically the load proof of the bolt and it's minimum yield and tensile strength.

Yield strength: the maximum load a material can withstand without permanently deforming.

Tensile strength: the maximum capacity a material has for elongating (tensile stress) before failure.

Load proof: maximum axial tensile load of a fastener before permanent deformation, a measurement of it's maximum elasticity.

    How's everything with your truck.

@Biscuits How you doing, man? So far so good! Still debating if I should buy the 285s or not! Some guys here are advising not to do it and others saying that I should do it.

It looks great as is IMHO, but 285s will look great too! :D

Tire size is a matter of preference and also depends on what you're going to use your truck for and what you find aesthetically pleasing. You're going to lose mpg with wider tires, but your mpg ultimately reflects your driving habits and environment. The truck will also work slightly harder to move the greater rotational mass, but I've been running 285s for five or six years now and I have no problems with power. 285s are also markedly more expensive than 265s.

There is no "should" or "shouldn't" at work here... It's all up to you!

Yes, I know! I like the look of the 285s, but I live in a city and I drive mostly on paved streets. Usually I don't drive too many miles during the week, but from time to time I do it and even on the crazy highway at 80mph. My driving habit is not always the same. Sometimes I can drive like an old man with a Nissan Versa, but sometimes I want to hear my muffler roaring. I have doubts because I don't want to lose too much power after buying and installing the 285s. :)

Completely understandable. My driving habits sound very similar to yours. That said, I don't have issues with power running 285s on either my wife's naturally aspirated PreRunner nor my supercharged 4x4. I think my wife's PreRunner gets about 16mpg with her aggressive-ass driving where as I get about 14mpg. The 4x4 is carrying more weight with an armored front bumper and sliders, and truth be told, I like bewst. :cookiemonster:

I don't remember seeing any photo of your wife's Prerunner before. :)
Honestly, I am not sure what to do, man! I was thinking about buying a new set of wheels and tires and keep the 265s/75 mounted on my current wheels, just in case that something goes wrong with the 285s or the gas price increase again.

It's the black Tacoma in my photo album and the one whose picture I posted in this thread some weeks back. It was my Tacoma prior to meeting my wife and the one I drove before buying the 4x4.

Your idea is a good one, if not a little expensive. It's a good idea IMHO to have a spare set in case of emergency, the eventuality of gas price increase as you said, or if you do any sort of offroading. It's much easier to beat up wheels and tires when they're not your daily set.
