Most definitely. Maybe even one day after work, I moved out of the townhouse and have some land about 15 min west of the gate you leave work from off 50.

I've been in archery for 34 years. Use to shoot five hours a day everyday. Shot indoor IBO leagues and one to two 3-D shoots a weekend. But after so many health problems I'm now only shooting 45# and only shoot a few time before hunting season.

Yes, the natural “c” the space between your thumb and forefinger should lock right in naturally to the curve in your jaw bone. A little more dfficult if your a heavy person but you are not.

I lock my thumb on the back of my neck every time. It’s the best anchor I have ever found!
And it gives an added bonus of being able to hold my bow back for minutes on end..
I have a 7 minute buck on the wall that will contest to that !

Congrats on the deer! Schew 7 minutes is a loooong time at full draw. Like i was saying earlier. Proshops will show you “correct” form but realistically it’s all about what works for you.

For sure! I have shot this way for the last decade! The deer was slowly coming up the hill right at me, so all I saw was his face until he finall started to turn

And I know I’m not alone, I have seen many others do the same thing, and I bet a few of you will now “at least” try it also :D

Od love to do some 3d shooting. I've been into all this for so long, just so broke all i ever used have been the cheap fiberglass recurve. But love the sport and the connection you get taking a bullet out of the equation.

Well it certainly felt that way! But I'm glad I drew early! He was coming right at meep the hill and wouldn't turn, I kept saying to my self, turn you basterd or I'm going to shoot you in the face! LOL When I released, he was 15 yards tops from me.

I have held for what seems a long time waiting for a shot but it in reality it was only a minute or two. When I practice I will hold for a minute or two so I can hold my form when i need to. Time seems to slow down alot when your drawing on an animal must have felt like an hour.

Hell it felt like 15 minutes. the only reason I had a time line was I'd had happened too had my phone in my hand when I saw him, put down, picked the bow up & drew. After he ran into the thicket, i picked my phone back up off the seat and looked at the time to time stamp the sot & see how long it took. I guesstimated at 7 min. because it was actually 9 min. later when I pick the phone back up.

That’s why I like the thumb behind the neck lock-in method. It’s like a fishhook

I used to do it (thumb behind the neck) for quite some time, but I got away from it and actually became more consistent just doing a more standard release hand anchor. I did it for at least a season or two but it just wasn't for me. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes when it comes to shooting. I feel like whatever makes you ruin arrows by shooting super tight groups is the technique for you!

So question for you guys. Many months ago I bought a bow (Hoyt Charger) zero experience whatsoever, archery is fun so why not give it a go. Couple weeks back finally went to the local archery shop/range to get it setup, start shooting etc. Draw length was way too short. Owner said he could get it fixed for about a hundred bucks in a few days. Cool no prob. 2 weeks later, I finally get the call its readyready this morning. New modules, string, and arrows of course. Now dude on the phone told me 125+tax. When I go to checkout its gone up to $400. I get it, $50 for arrows, string was $100, $35 for labor, and $82 for the cam (they knocked some off because I "traded in" the old ones). Does $300 sound right for that? Fuckin A, the bow cost less than that

I may be way wrong, but all you may have needed was a new string and $100 for that seems high to me. Anyone else, please correct me if I'm wrong.
