The front dif (differential), driver's side seal was leaking. I had a 3'' toytec Billie/eibach coilover setup and at 49k miles and they still replaced it and put me in a rental prius.

If Ya want to go off the path...the only way to go for sure. It takes a whole lot of Taco to match a stock Jeep.

It seems like you weren’t very impressed with the Tacoma, and coming from the Platinum F150 I wouldn’t expect you to be. Like people have said already, it depends how you’re gonna use the truck.

I’ve owned a 2003 Explorer, 2010 Focus, 2006 F150, 2014 Focus ST, and still have a 92 F-150, all have been excellent cars. So naturally my eyes were on a coyote F150. But I didn’t want that payment right now. So luckily the third gens are much more refined than the previous Tacos and took the plunge to leave Ford into a Toyota. The Taco suits my current needs better than a full size V8 (I have to go V8 on a full size) so I’m happy.

I say keep the platinum :D

They really are. I’m not sure they are worth it, but then again, is any new vehicle worth it? I bought my son a Cherokee Trailhawk but he really wanted the Wrangler Unlimited. It may sound dumb but at the time I wouldn’t buy the Wrangler because it didn’t have a backup camera. When you have teenage drivers, that’s a must (at least to me) nowadays. One screw up and insurance with all the young drivers I have is terrible. If he keeps doing well in school I might get him one but his older sister is heading off to med school and that’s not exactly cheap. And, his 2 younger sisters are getting a car now and one in about a year. I don’t enjoy buying new cars anymore but the kids are getting older so I get them all a new car when they turn 17. With kids moving off to school we are also downsizing from our 17 Yukon XL as soon as my wife figures out what she wants.

Glad you test drove one, I love my truck but if I had to complain about something it would be the lack of low end power, I've had the pedal pinned to the carpet more times in a year and a half of ownership than 3 prior Tacoma's in 17 years combined.

Yep, my Mom had one of the first Ecoboost engines in her 2013 Explorer that she just finally traded in and besides SYNC was absolutely trouble free.

Definitely a sweet rig. Mother in law has a black one, interior has upgraded nicely. Just don't know if I could do the jeep life as a daily

Low end power is definitely lacking but TSB 58 (or 62) really did improve my throttle response, at least making me feel like I had a little more power down low. I really don’t but as long as I feel like I do then I’m fine....

Yes the early my ford touch was full of issues. That’s why when I got into the 2014 Focus ST I went with the basic sync package, I don’t like a lot of tech anyway. My 18’ Taco has more tech than I like but I’m learning to embrace the future

I've only bought new on the Tacos and maybe the Jeep because of the resale, if you can afford to go new you're better off. I loved the JL Rubi, just hard to justify the $49k sticker, but did get them down to $45k before I left. They offered me $31.5k on my JBL Tech/Prem 17 TRD OR 4WD DCSB which was easy to walk away from lol. The total price is what had me stepping away and the adult kick in. Could totally afford it, but don't want too, lol.

Only thing I disliked was the stereo compared to my current JBL and the twitchy ass electric steering.

#adulting. Good job. You have to know when to walk. Your truck is worth more. Heck, sell it if you go to buy another one but do you want those bigger payments?

I'm definitely going to need some sort of extra boost behind it if I do make the switch over lol.

That steering takes some time to get used to. I drove hers for an 8 hour round trip and at first I didn't know if I was going to make it with the way it handled haha
