I was shopping for a Silverado not too long ago but very glad I chose the Tacoma instead. Unless you need a larger bed capacity and towing capability, and your milage may vary, the Tacoma is a very suitable truck. Plus the smaller footprints saves you a ton on fuel. It just made more sense for me. Good luck with your decision.

Funny - I'm going in the other direction. About to trade / sell my 2017 TRD OR for an F150. Thinking Raptor if I can swing it. Main reason is the Taco cab is too small for my family of 4 and dog. Want to buy mine?

If you were down in south Louisiana, I'd maybe consider it haha. I don't blame you on your decision, four people consistently getting in that size truck doesn't work out for the best

This is why I lean so much towards the cement grey taco... curious for those with roof racks, any serious wind noise?

Lol. Good luck with your decision. I'd think long & hard about your move. I think we have a tendency to "want what we don't have". It's fun buying a new truck, but then eventually the buzz wears off and it's just a vehicle that gets you from point A to B.

I really love my Taco (especially now that it's detailed & in showroom condition). I haven't had most of the issues that people complain about on this site. I do have a slight / random howling at 40-50mpg, but it's random and doesn't bother me. For us, this is purely coming down to needing more room with a growing family. After test driving F150 and the raptor, I'm so impressed with the interior size, comfort and amenities of Ford compared to Toyota. I test drove the Tundra and there's no comparison.

OP save yourself and us a headache. The Tacoma is not for you. Maybe the new Ranger or Frontier will be better suited for you next year. Good luck on your search, enjoy the F150 until you find what you want.

If you test drive, make sure it had tsb 62-18 done. Throttle/shifting way better.

I have had 2 tacomas, now I have a 2015 F150 Lariat with every option and the 5.0 motor.

Got in a tacoma the other day at work and couldn't believe how small it was. I initially traded my 2017 tacoma for a 2018 WRX and that was super small too. Got tired of it and not having a pickup so went with an F150. Tacomas are cool but I regularly have 4 people in the car so a tacoma is a little small for that. (There's like 10 inches of room between your knees and the front seats if you sit in the back of the f150, you can have a party back there) In the Tacoma your knees will be chaffed after a long car ride lol.

The tacomas are still awesome and reliable, really what you need to do is go park your f150 by a tacoma and see if you can handle the size difference going backwards and then go from there.

Definitely agree man, haven't spoken with you in awhile! You made at least two of my headlights for my last Tacoma, how's that cobra project coming along??

Anywho, I agree with the downsizing of cab space... full size truck has it pros and cons while mid size does as well. Really depends on what I'll be using it mostly for

Im not tech savy with tunes. Can you elaborate a little bit on what this does and how it will help? Saw it has a $770 price tag on it.
    Thanks.

The low front seat could be improved.

Compared to what you’re used to, yes. For a truck with a roof rack, the noise isn’t bad.

I finished the 99 cobra convertible and sold it to fund a 700hp kenne bell supercharged 2003 cobra. Still working on that one

Changes shifting, throttle response, and a few other minor tweaks with the driving side of the truck. Every person who has done it, has been 100% happy with it. I'm waiting till they release their twin turbo setup in December and going that route. They are an extremely respectable group with the Tacos, and their tuning is on point. I've been following them since day 1, and crazy excited for their turbos. Bolt on, 5 options of power (few of them needing no heavy modifications on the truck, and 2 of them are going to include pistons, etc, to make up for the fact the Taco will be pushing 500hp+. Definitely read both their posts, OVTune and OVTune Turbos. Worth the read and knowledge.

There's a TSB for this now, I had it applied and it reduced the whine by ~80% for me. I can definitely live with it now.

I've had nearly all of the current TSBs and service updates performed on my truck, minus the rear diff leak and body mount bushings. I knew going into a new generation Tacoma that there would be bugs to work out, and while annoying to spend time at the dealer, this is the best truck I've ever owned, including three previous Tacomas and a FJ Cruiser. The latest transmission software update made this truck perfect; it really opens up the engine and increases throttle response. I'm also originally from Louisiana, so my opinion should count twice.

Hey hey my man, Geaux tigers!! I'm glad to hear that. I can't complain about the plati at all. Phenomal truck, and in my opinion the best full size out there. Only thing that scares me is I'm creeping up on 90k miles and it's starting to make me question how long it will hold up for.
