Ah, that would do it. Who knows, you still might not need it. But it’s a good thing to have anyway.

    How’s the frame?

Fine as far as I can tell. PO had it coated in 2010 and Ive got another year on the warranty. I got it last year at 46k so it was never driven much. I painted everything that wasnt coated after I got it. I'm gonna retouch some areas before this winter too.

No holes or anything? You ever have Toyota take a look at it?

Interesting how it's still marked Toyota. Most of those OE manufacturers remove any branding marks before they sell their own version of it.

I fix iPhones and the OE manufacturers do this with a black Sharpie. You can still see the Apple logo under it.

Nope. It will go in for inspection sometime this winter. Roanoke VA where I got it, thats on the southern most end of what I consider the rust belt. The parts of the grease coating Ive scraped off look good underneath. Heres after I got it and painted it:0820171457a.jpg 0820171645.jpg
Leafs have been replaced as well as the muffler since. 5100's added too.

I've seen worse, not too bad. What chassis paint did you use?

Lol Chasis paint? This was before I was making $12 an hour. Thats the cheapo Rustoleum rattle can 2x paint and primer in one. Still looks that good a year later. I might fluid film or Krown it this winter.

Funny, more like a shame, how the exhaust looks no matter where the truck lives. My truck is a Cali truck & my exhaust looks like that. And from what I remember early on too, when I got the truck with only 28K on it already had rust on it but everything else was really clean, muffler too but it's a Flowmaster.

Yah. You Cali boys and your $15 min wage bullshit. $7.25 is minimum here. The job I just took is $8.50 and I'm exstatic that a grocery store is willing to start me at that. Need I remind you, I can have a 3 bedroom house on 3 acres here for $200k.

Eh. Paint is paint. POR15 is great stuff, but it's pricey.

It looks great either way. Definitely fluid film it.

Do they really make chassis paint (aside from chassis undercoating)?

My favorite is a specific Rustoleum flat black but it not "powdery" flat like flat black usually looks. Not quite satin or semi gloss either. Around here in Osh sells it but unfortunetaly they're closing down. I just went to all my local Osh's & bought what I can find. Lowes own Osh but they don't sell the same things.

It's all the same to me. Just dont get that rubberized crap that most people use. It just traps water under it. My dad used the same stuff I used on his 92 pickup like 14 years ago, its just now starting to show rust. The most important thing is to wash the stupid salt off in the first place. If most car owners cared enough to pay the extra $2 at the car wash for the underbody wash, rust would be a lot less of an issue. I crawl under it with a garden hose after each snowstorm and get it all myself.

Stainless will rust over time. Most muffler companies don't use enough chromium in their metal. Just enough to pass the magnet test.

Oh yeah agreed, I hate that rubberized crap in a can. Only time my truck gets exposed to salt is when I go to Pismo. As soon as we leave we stop at the coinop & pressure wash everything down with soap & water. Then when I get home I wash the truck again the day after. Unfortunately it takes a month for the sand to stop coming out the AC vents.

Yeah & it depends on what grade they use. Most SS exhausts are made of 304. No one uses 316. But by the way he described it, his muffler should not look like how it was described, no matter how long he has had it on the truck.
