Man, read some of the thread. We pointed you here for a reason. There are two TSBs and both get the same ECU flash which helps the way the truck drives.

As promised - my opinion - if you’re hesitating just go. It’s the best the truck has shifted since I bought it. Yes, I can make it do what I want in ‘s’ And for anyone who can drive that’s acceptable.

I drove up the mountain, 200 miles. It was rain so my speed was down a bit. However, it shifted like I wanted it to. No slams down 2+ gears, then back up with no power and back down, etc, etc.

And I gained at least 2mpg. Part of that may be decreased speed due to rain but not all of it. I’m guess that slamming down and hunting for gears can’t be too fuel efficient. But what do I know?

I’ll have more info after the drive home. However, 200 miles in I’m impressed. It’s about f@@@ing time.

I took my usual weekend trip and after getting 11.4 MPG pre TSB, 13.4 post TSB with a mix of reular and premium, I got 14.9 today on all premium. My truck misses on regular, hence the premium, I am not saying premium will boost your MPG. It probably could have been about a 1/2 MPG better but had some wind. This is all while towing about 2k pounds running S5 and no CC. It held 5th in spots it normally wouldn't. It was pretty nice and I have 0 complaints about the shifting.

I got the TSB specifically because of the hesitation. It is completely gone now.

OK then Dangle, I’ll say it - premium will boost your mileage with these trucks. :). There. I said it. Or, it at least boosts my mileage. I still don’t know if it’s enough to justify the added cost but my truck runs rough on regular unleaded.

Yeah for me its just simply a better truck on premium. Even if the MPG dropped, I'd still buy it.

I’m not sure I have a choice. If I don’t run it my truck stumbles all over the place.

Ok. Here’s a wrench. I think my truck gets 2 mpg better on USA vs Vancouver gas.

Do I need to mention anything or will they do the flash automatically when I go for my 15k service?

You'll need to request it. Print the TSB and bring it in

Got mine today. Brought the TSB print out. Gave it to my service advisor and he said great see you in an hour. It was done and I have the sticker on the inside of the hood to boot! Drive home I could tell the difference. A lot smoother shifting.

The PDF in the 12th post says it's for high-altitude issues. Since i'm in Florida will they tell me they can't do it or is there another TSB I can bring in besides that one?

Thats bs. I am in SE Texas, about the same elevation as you, and I got it done. My truck was really wonky before the update, and a little wonky after.

Thanks for the info, did you give them the same PDF from post #12 or just ask them about it?

Yes, and I told them I had the transmission lag. They supposedly did it. I keep forgetting to look under the hood for the sticker. Now I have to get the ac fan blower replaced. I will make sure they did it when I go in.

Look here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/list-of-t-sbs-etc.562671/. and check out T-SB-0058-18 R1. It is the same software update for different symptoms and doesn’t mention anything about altitude.
