Worth close to 5 bills?

Truck sitting on 5100's @ 1.75. Thinking about going up to 2.5, but would get new UCAs before going up.. Worth the cash for some UCAs to gain .75"???

 

I'd say it depends how you drive...if you drive mostly freeway then not having your alignment in spec is really annoying. If you drive on city streets or under 65 you hardly even notice it.

 

Leave it be or do it right so i said yes for the UCA's

 

im at 2.5" on stock uca's... and drive mostly highway...

Im the same way, but wish I would have bought them. I weird little jerks in the steering on the freeway thats why I said yes. Do you guys get that too?

I actually just got back from a mechanic saying my ball joint is bad so new UCAs may be sooner then anticipated.

 

And that's why it's recommended.

I think toku58 posted that having a lift of 2" or higher w/o having aftermarket UCAs, is like having a lady walking around with her feet tip toeing all day instead of getting heels where her feet can rest on the arch. It's possible but it's not something you'd want to do all the time.

 

50k+ miles on stock uca's and 3" lift. I didn't have issues or concerns, and the front tires wore out pretty flat, only 1 rotation after about 30k b/c there was visible wear to the outer edge of the front right tire.

 

^lol I don't know about 1 tire rotation after 30K miles now.

 

no bs. 285/75/16 mud kings. I do a ton of hwy miles in my 75mile a day round trip commute but the tires held up great.

yeah, commuting blows but it pays the bills. I bought the truck with the lift on it and then found this site and thought it was going to be all bad not having uca's, the previous owner told me he had no alignment issues, (owned his own repair shop) and the truck always drove perfectly straigt for me. Everytime someone would stop and bs at a gas station they would think I was full of bs but I never had any issues with this setup.

I was worried too about everyone saying it, but Ill buy new ones when I have to (breakage).

 

I plan on keeping my UCAs when I put on my Bilsteins at 2.5". I was under the impression that this wouldn't cause problems.

 

Funny how the first 2 options are close to a tie. Do have a majority that feel spending it somewhere else is a better option.

Think the mods will go as follows..
1. Rear 5100's
2. UCA's ( one day)
3. Raise front to 2.5
4. Rims(one day as well)

The rear 5100s I'll probably pick up before the end of next week...

 

I just bought a TT ultimate lift, waiting for the front 5100's (backordered). I plan on going max and everyone told me UCAs are optional.

 

Depends... "worth" is a relative term. So weight your options and ask yourself, "is it worth it?"
