The impact will spin that off no problem. Leave the transmission in neutral.

Make sure you keep the 2 half's orientated. Mark them so they go back together the same.

 

Do Sub-Zero 642 fridges with the ice maker have an In-line water filter? Our ice tastes weird.

I took a flathead and unstaked it. I kept the transmission in Park and zipped it off with ease.

 

I cant really get a screwdriver under it though.

 

Yeah, shove it into one of the ends and start hammering it till it unstakes.

 

I don’t think I’m capable of removing the fridge from the wall to check, it’s a built in unit. I looked up the documentation for this fridge and the filter and compressor are behind that top grate. However, I didn’t see any kind of water filter (since we don’t have the water dispenser) so I thought maybe the ice maker has its own in-line filter somewhere.

 

I haven't updated it recently so its burried in the pages. Needs a sticky IMHO

Interesting. I don’t have it, but when I looked at the Sub-Zero documentation, there was filter next to the compressor in my specific fridge with the water dispenser equipped.

I’ll take a look. Where can I buy replacement filters?

 

I don't un stake that nut. It is much softer metal than the shaft. It hurts nothing.

If you don't replace that nut, a drop of thread lock is good insurance.

I learned this on 1st CB replacement years ago. The nut will back off. Mine actually separated from the front half. I was done. Then I remembered I had 4 wheel drive. Engaged it and drove home.

What’s code on sanitary water lines? Copper?

I can’t pull the fridge out to check.

 

Well fan just had ice build up so it caused play in the shaft amd was loud. The ice maker gets used all the time to it finally gave out.

 

You do know that you referring to sewer lines when you ask about sanitary lines?

 

Water come in on copper lines. But you should have a flex pipe between the wall and fridge.

Yeah I’m thinking about sewers for some reason.

Thought it was weird they label them as sanitary.

Also @BartMaster1234 usally fridges have a light to tell you when the filter is dirty. Or atleast most the fridges done that ive seen with ice makes.

This is a pretty old Sub-Zero from 2005, it’s just flashing “SERVICE”
