Battery cage progress: cut it to pieces and make it fit the battery and space better. A 2nd set of eyes @Blkvoodoo realized that it wasn't gonna be able to open the way I wanted to install it. So we thunked and fixed that Tomorrow I'll work on putting the legs on it.

All done, maybe not built to ze Germans specs, but it ain't gon' go no where. While drilling these small holes I snapped off 2 drill bits and tried to straighten one..

 

New hoodliner installed. Maybe later I'll poke some holes and put the factory christmas tree buttons back in.

Yeah don't think that one is any good but the ones you do have that aren't all stretched out or bent

I've had some success getting a tip back on a broken one before depending on where and how it's broken. I would say abt 10% of the time if that

 

A real wrench uses a bench grinder or disc

it don't have to be pretty, it just has to cut, it takes practice, and i'm not good at it, but you got all that twist to get it right...and it doesn't cost $130 for a one trick pony ( i had a Drill DR in my Amazon cart for over 2 years, couldn't bring myself to do it when ive got a dozen other grinding devices that can do the same job

2" air buffer with a 120grit disc and a steady hand ( in my case 2x magnifiers for my blind old ass....) i field sharpen bits pretty often, even left twist bits, its fun

 

Made some brackets to allow the driver seat to move further back. More than an hour driving tears up my knee/leg muscles because I'm taller. First step was to remove the stops that kept the seat from going back. The tracks have plenty of room for the seat to go back but the motor/screw mechanism holds it back, so I moved the mount for the screw further back about 3 inches.

 

Also replace the crappy brittle plastic clogged christmas tree of a PCV valve with a proper PCV ball valve from an 88 Honda civic.

 

Door lock diagnoses and tear apart. This door lock motor has some crap in it that's locking it up, can fiddle with it to make it spin but feels like the windings are jacked up. 28mm shaft

Is it a build or rebuild at this point. At least the wiring will be all straightened out when you're done.

 

Starter solenoid + post is spinning and the nut won't come off.. Is it Borsched??

Wiring, heater/coolant hoses, vacuum lines, door locks, etc, etc, etc
