Getting my used Snugtop shell painted. Is it worth getting the seal between the cap and bed.

You must have some sort of gasket between the bed and cap or it’ll leak like a sieve.
In addition, due to the factory plastic bed rail covers, Tacoma’s leak worse than most trucks at the front corners (assuming you have a 2nd or 3rd gen).

Ya sorry it is a 2nd Gen. From what I see the cover over laps the bed sides but I assume water can stoll makes it was in

I'd seal the front where the window faces the cab. There should be a rubber flange that falls over the front bed rail b/w the bed and the cab to help. The install guys missed that and I made them take it off and reinstall it. Sealing the bed rails won't make a difference unless you just want to protect your bed rails from the weight of the shell. Which is a good idea I think. Both my snug top side windows leaked and were replaced under a PITA warranty process, and now it only leaks very slighting in the tailgate corners. Totally going ARE next time.
