How are they? For the last 15 years I have run snow tires on both vehicles in the winter, all of them AWD Subarus or Siennas. One reason I got the Off Road version is it comes with all terrain tires, which are usually better than “no season” tires in the snow. And I was thinking finally I don’t have to run two sets of tires. Opinions from people that have actually driven on snow tires would be really appreciated. If you think your all seasons are good in the snow, they aren’t.

I live in Buffalo and everyone thinks it snows a foot every day and we are always driving in deep powder, the reality is we usually drive in wet, salty, heavy snow about 10-20 days out of the year, and occasionally icy packed snow but they clear the roads here so fast, it’s mostly dry pavement, or a wet salty mess.

Just yesterday I read several posts of guys saying the good years are actually pretty good in the snow, as far as AT's go. One of the better tires to ever come as OEM equipment on Tacoma's.

I'd imagine in 4wd the good years would pose no problems whatsoever. The concern would be traction when accelerating in 2wd. I've not been through a winter yet with the good years. But I'm expecting them to perform better than the average AT tire based on what I've been reading.

I started reading this and thought I’d chime in but I have a strong feeling that I’m not part of the .07% that can relate to Buffalo NY snow. All I have is, free bump, and good luck, god speed!

Meh. They are Meh. I’m a little bit south of you. I highly recommend some Michelin Defenders over Wranglers for snow use.

I'm down the Thruway in Rochester, so similar snow conditions. My truck is an SR so I can't speak to the Goodyear's, but I did put Falken AT3Ws on last year. They are excellent in the snow for an all season and get the job done, but still fall short of basically any snow tire.

They are miles better than the hankooks that came on the truck, but I will get a set of dedicated snow tires when space and funds permit. I've had blizzaks before and been very happy with them.

It’s not as bad as everyone thinks. Yeah, it snows, but it’s also cleared quickly. What’s really tough is the snow is wildly unpredictable. Snow squalls can dump 6” an hour and move around a lot.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that you were talking about Wrangler tires and not Jeep Wranglers.

I was just reading through the thread and thinking “How come no one is talking about Jeeps in here?”

I was pleased with them and know a few guys who don't feel the need to run winter tires as well.

The stopping power on dedicated snow tires can't be beat. Don't risk it get a good set of snows.

I agree. You can get around alright, but they are not the least bit impressive. In an emergency situation or extreme conditions they disappoint. This is from a Colorado perspective.

For peace of mind a better tire would be ideal. If your careful they will most definitely work in Upstate winters. Slow it down and make sure you use 4WD when you need it.

With 180 lbs in the bed (3 60 lb. tube sand bags) they are okay. In 2wd they were dicey for me at times when trying to pull out into the street through slush. Not bad in 4wd. I was glad to get rid of them in the end.

well I drove a G35 coupe in winter for about 6-7 years before I had my truck, after nearly getting killed half a dozen times I broke down and got a Taco.

Last winter we had a decent size snow that came all at once while I was at work.
By the time I could leave work we had about 6-7 inches. The city im in only had one snow plow because a few years ago the gov. sold 19 snow plows to make the budget look good at the end of the year.

so our roads go 3-4 days before ever seeing a plow.
I didnt have even the slightest problem in that snow and my tires had about 15k miles on them.

I thought they were okay in snow, not good and not bad.

We actually got a little bit of snow here last year about 10 inches and I thought they were pretty decent. If I still lived in MI I would run them year round.

I went one year with them in the snow and ice. They are ok. I would say slightly better than all seasons would be. I am going to get a dedicated set of winter tires next winter though. We have studded snow tires on the Odyssey and you really can't beat that for traction in bad conditions.
