Is it me or are all of these other car makers giving like a 3 - 6 month trial of Sirius/XM with basically all new cars?

A few of my buddies just bought new trucks (Chevys and Fords) and both got free trials. I just got a new Taco with Sat Radio built in and nothing.

Did anyone get a subscription with theirs?

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
If you get the JBL package with bluetooth on the steering wheel, you get the 3 month XM subscription.

If you get the non-JBL stereo (no bluetooth / amp, etc.), you're Sat radio "ready" which means you have to buy the receiver, as tallyman indicated.

lol I think I would have no problem sacrificing Sat Radio coverage for the perks of living in Hawaii.

In any case where do I get a receiver for this thing? Is it just a regualar sat receiver? or a special one for the Taco? I just did a quick Googler and didnt really find much.

Yeah, I thought that I was getting a trial with my new truck. But the button did nothing when I drove away. Called the salesman and he said no, not on your truck. I didnt realize the difference between "sat ready, and equipped" Oh well on this one I guess. Don't really see a point in installing the antenna and all if its not complete.

Exactly... Like WTF is that? Now I just have a worthless SAT button on my HU and a dumb looking little dome on the top of my truck.

The three-month deal is from the poviders, not the car dealers. If you have a new tuner, just call XM and ask for the free three-month trial. They offer it to all new subscribers hoping that you'll sign up for continued service.

They also have specials on first five months ($19) and first year ($77) hoping that you don't cancel befor they expire.

My truck came with 3 months free then when that expired they gave me 6 months for $30 then when that expired I got a one year subscription for $80. They had billed me the regular price of $170 but I called to cancel and got them to agree to a much lower amount.

Where does the receiver go? In the glovebox or something?

Use the "search" feature on here and you'll find quite a bit of info on XM, Sirrus, Satellite radio searches. You have options - "built-in" will cost a small chunk of change- add on is cheaper but you have some sacrifics with that too. So check it - see what you want to do. Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys! What a real PITA... All along I thought I was ready to roll with a subscription. Another case of the bait and switch I guess. I would have tried to work this into the deal if I would have known all of this.

Contact any Toyota dealer - it's a $450.00 dealer installed option. They just have to order the receiver and install it.

I just got mine done, and I love it. The XM is integrated into the factory head unit, and works great.

What the hell is the point of putting the antenna and integrating the sat button into the HU if they are gonna make you buy another part for $250-$400 beans?!

Arnt the little receivers that stick to your window like half that much for the whole shabang?
