Bought it outright too so the feeling of owning it completely feels awesome and rewarding. Can’t wait to use it!

My favorite part may be the rolling down rear window :anonymous:

There are times I rethink my FJC purchase, wondering if a T4R would've better served.

It feels like a luxury car coming from the taco. So smooth, rides amazing, brakes well, interior has lots of buttons. Even the 2nd gens I drove were just meh for the price. Also I don’t use my truck as a truck so why have a truck? I think this will last me a very long time

This feature is going to change your life. There is no going back once you get used to it.

Congrats on buying it outright! That's a smart move.

I use Keith at Keith's Wheel Alignment on Arno NE, but others have found cheaper places. Keith does excellent work. Congrats on the new Toy, BTW!

Anyone got any of the OEM shark running boards they are looking to sell or trade (for OEM Predator Steps)?

I think it's a monopoly. The sales manager at American told me I couldn't order a Tacoma Pro MT, so I found an 18 Pro MT at Karl Malone in Salt Lake and they were straight with me. Drove the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands on the way home. I like the Fox suspension. The tires suck and they're gone (BFGs 275/75/16) and put the RCI sliders on, so it's mostly ready to go. BAK X2 Tonneau cover on today.

The old Beaver Toyota has changed hands and they have a similar attitude to American - caveat emptor with these guys. Roswell and Alamogordo seem straight, but it's a drive from ABQ. American's service seems ok. Mel Rosas in service seems like an honest guy. I'll ask him if he'll do the recent TSB, and see what happens.

I put new pads & rotors on my truck Saturday. I noticed that both inner CV joint boots were torn; they weren't the last time I was under the truck (last oil change). Time for new axles, I guess. I wonder if lifting the truck made them go out sooner, as they're at a greater angle now. :notsure:

As you pointed out with the angles, lifting usually wears them out faster. I only went 2" on the FJ to help with that issue.

Maybe time for a wrench day?

Thanks, guys. It looks like a lot more work to re-boot, compared to just putting new ones on; I also worry about what's gotten into the CV since the boots broke. I was in some pretty deep mud & water a few weeks ago behind my house. They're about $55-60 each, for the whole axle ready-to-install. The installation looks pretty simple, but the 35mm axle nut at 173ft/lbs of torque puts fear into my heart. I have a Snap-On 1/2" drive breaker bar, but I've done axles on my VW Sciroccos and the axle nut was the hardest part. I don't have an electric impact. I do, however, have a nice 2-car garage to work in now.

I wonder if the diff drop would help with the inner boot's survival? Is there a down side to that?

Diff drop is pointless, I had one and it didn't make any difference on angles, just made my skid plate fit bad. Ive rebooted lots of cv that were full of junk and they lived, just clean them out real good and regrease. You can do the boot slide mod to help boots last longer or the are boots made to run at steeper angles also

I haven't met an axle nut that I couldn't break. Happy to come over and help out. Up to you on the reboot. I've done it plenty of times it isn't that bad.

Good evening. I guess I am the new guy around here, Live in Rio Rancho.

Picked up a 2018 Tacoma TRD ORDC last month. This is my first Toyota coming from a die hard Ford Family. I was disappointed with the looks of the new ranger and decided it was time for a change! My wife also liked the Tacoma so much we traded her Expedition for a 2018 TRD OR premium 4-Runner. I guess you can say we doubled down on Toyota’s in the last month!

I was wondering if this group ever does any meet ups? I already have the Mod- bug but would like to see what others are running and where or who is doing the work? Or if there is a 3rd Gen guru around these parts I would buy you lunch or a 12 pack to let me pick your brain for an hour or so...

Looking forward to adding what I can to the group!
