This is absolutely true. More so nowadays.

Although, I think a good exception is regearing.

Most roosters are assholes. I would never let mine get to maturity before they ended up in the freezer

Kinda not really. Regearing to get you to a good rpm at hwy speeds for optimal fuel mileage but you gotta remember you are turning a lot more weight on those wheels. IIRC like 5-10lbs on the wheel is like 100 or so static weight.

Very true. He runs from me like a biatch but he attacks my wife.

I chase him with a shovel regularly so he knows who's boss. But he got my wife once with his spurs. Like getting stabbed with two freshly sharpened pencils.

Well, you're never going to get above what your truck does when it is straight off the showroom floor, but gearing will give you back some of what you've lost. At least so I have read.

Each of my 285s are about 5 lbs heavier than the 265s I took off. I definitely notice a difference.

Yeah I'm not a fan of a rooster unless it's something like one of those really little kind of chickens but they are just funny to hear crow. Silkeys are pretty tame also.

He is a bantam. Some of My hens are bigger than he is.

He's the worst rooster ever. Terrible at his job, which is to protect and keep in check the hens.

A few weeks ago we lost 5 hens. He should have been the first to die.

He also doesn't reduce drama in the flock.

    His crow is weak too.

The more I think of this the more I realize he does nothing to contribute and is freeloader.

Bantam that's the breed i was thinking of. I'm surprised he acts like that. I used geese as flock guards they are a lot better than roosters. Roosters always have drama in a flock because of breeding in my experience.

My dad had a dozen hens and he couldn't introduce new chicks because the hens would dominate them and kill them. Once he introduced a rooster, any time a hen would try to dominate or cause drama, the rooster would step in, essentially eliminating all drama and he could introduce new chicks.

    I've experience none of that.

He's too small. I think coyote bait would be appropriate!

I would introduce new chickens to the flock once they got a decent size and would do it in the night when everyone was roosted for the night never really had any issues. They wake up and are too dumb to figure out there are new ones in the flock. I never had roosters in my flock. Only time I got roosters was when I would get meat birds.
