Go ready my reply to BamaTaco56 again and you'll understand my whole stance on the scheduling situation. Fans arent the only cocky ones. Announcers and "experts" flock to these teams about how great and wonderful they are within 2 weeks even if they've played nobody at all.

 

Yes, I get that, but you seem to continually place the blame on Alabama (generalizing), the team for a few fans and announcers actions/statements. You seem like a really smart fella, I can't imagine you'd let your unmentionables get twisted so tightly over what announcers and oddball fans say, that you post about it constantly on an internet forum.

I understand if you're sick of hearing it. Especially as it seems baseless. Why complain or bring it up so much if there isnt anything that can be done?

I use Bama because yall are literally the ones talking in here all the time. If an Ohio State fan or someone was having the conversation with me I'd use them as the example. Heck I did back when they got clobbered by LSU in the natty.

I just hate that football has become "go undefeated or 1 loss even if it's against poor opponents" and you can go to the title. Situations like UCF where they have an awful conference they play in are different obviously.

I think UCF could schedule top tier teams for OOC and probably make the jump. They may actually have it easier with regard to scheduling, as highly ranked teams may schedule them for their OOC as a "cupcake"....

I mean that's why the playoff was put in place, to match up the conference's best. But now they dont even match up the conference champions correctly.

 

Anytime human hands are involved, it gets ugly. Last year, for example. Yes, Bama ended up winning, but it really seems to me that conference champions should be "IN".

5 power 5 conference champions means move the playoffs to 6 teams with 1 outlier.

I agree completely. Then schedule doesnt matter as far as OOC goes. Sure you can argue "sec is better than acc" or "big ten is better than pac 12". Well prove it in the playoffs.

 

With this, if the outlier wins, (insert UCF last year) then they legitimately were the best team in the nation. Actually, that goes for whoever wins.


even if you have a conference champion with 2 losses....If they win it all...then they win it all. Puts the importance on conference championships initially, creating a better rivalry atmosphere inside the conference. Once in the playoffs, OOC rivalries can take over.

No because you cant prove that the sec might not have beaten Ohio state since they got left out. You're a bammer so you won't agree, but bama should have been left out.

Ok, what if you lose all for OOC games and 1 conference game. That means you are 7-5 overall. Another team goes 11-1 with the only loss being to that 7-5 team. 7-5 team goes to conference championship game. You gonna tell me the 7-5 team is a better team than the 11-1 team?

 

I mean ill admit that bama and Clemson played a heck of a game both years they were in the natty, not so much when the met in the semifinals though

 

Not to get in the middle of this discussion but imo the best 2 teams did play for the nc last year. I admit I wanted Bama so if we won nobody could say but we didn’t have to face them/the best.

If Ohio St had gotten in we’d be defending National Champions right now.
