Yeah, because they beat them. If they didnt play the exact same 4 OOC games then you cant really compare.

 

You are all speaking on opinions that the "2 best played". But auburn beat alabama so clearly alabama wasnt better than auburn.

So then we just need to play 1000 games and everybody play everybody.

OOC either needs to matter or it doesnt.

If its going to matter, then quit letting teams play the likes of Arkansas state and Duke and Austin Peay.

If it's not going to matter until post season, let em play whoever tf they want.

But you shouldn't have both. Perfect example was 2011. What did it prove other than Alabama and LSU going 1-1? You cant factually say one was better than the other. You can have an opinion of it, but that's worth as much as the shit I just took.

If you cant win your conference you shouldn't be representing them post season.

 

So who's the best team? It proves nothing then. Exactly why the system is screwed up.

I meant Duke in the sense of OOC game, referring to Alabama.

Idgaf what other conferences do right now, but I think it's just absurd that a team that just sits on their couch one weekend gets to represent their conference after their last game was a loss. Something is flawed there. That's why I'm saying conference championships should matter more, arguably the most. Since every team can't play every team and you only get a few OOC games, then the IN CONFERENCE should matter the most. That being said if you can't win your conference, why should you move on to represent in the playoffs? Just because some people have the OPINION that you're the best? you just lost your last game, how does that make you the best?

Clearly I dont. But i would feel the same if it was another team too. The selections just dont make sense.

If the postseason is intended to match up opposing conferences (since they dont play regular season) and is supposed to prove who is the best of the best....how does the 3rd in a conference get to go over the first in other conferences? I dont see an SEC vs SEC bowl game anywhere. It's all just opinions on who gets selected.

I feel (a little) bad for Pruitt, but Tennessee is going to get its teeth kicked in over and over this year, and I'll probably laugh every time.

Um. We currently have a "real" playoff.

The problem with having more than six teams is that the field starts to get watered down. You'll end up with 2 or 3 loss teams that didnt win their conference and honestly, conference championships wont matter anymore.

If you move it to 8 teams, you'll have other issues such as scheduling times for the games vs. the NFL and viewership as well. You could also argue that the disparity from 1-8 is quite large. Yes, anything can happen on the field, but you've also got to take in to consideration that these guys would be playing 16,17 games a year. The NFL wont like that.


Unless of course we moved to no OOC games and just played inter-conference games all year long, then a conference championship, and then you'll have the argument that while (for example) the ACC has all ranked teams, they are the best conference and played a harder schedule (sound familiar) and so now they are an 8 seed, but they are so bruised and battered that they cant physically compete at game 16.
