Hi all. Just picked up my new taco. I have 3 Yakima front loader bike racks I want to mount in the bed. I'm not interested in mounting them up high on a roof rack because of parking garages where I live and work. Any ideas for a low-ish cost solution? I really just need a bar across the bed that is secure from falling over or theft.

Probably more than you intended to spend but I went with a Pace Edwards Tonneau with integrated rails to mount the yakima bars and then the Frontloader. With this combo I manage to lock up my gear in the bed and keep the cabin free for passengers. Served me well on a few mountain bike/road bike expeditions.

How do the FrontLoaders attach to crossbars? @Mobtown Offroad bed bars are 1-1/2" square extruded aluminum and keep things relatively low.

Have you guys been in a parking garage? Can't imagine any of the posted set ups would clear.

I use a tailgate mat and a hitch rack. Tailgate mat is the easiest and you can simply get a cable lock to secure everything.

If you're set on mounting the those racks, it should be easy enough to DIY mount a couple cross bars in there. Personally, that seems like more hassle and pain in the neck when you need to carry other cargo in the bed with the bars in the way.

You can literally fit nothing else in the bed with a tailgate pad.

Thank you for the insight. This is why I have a hitch rack as well for those times I need to carry other cargo.

Try this, it's a simple/inexpensive solution and you don't need to worry about vertical clearance or removing the front wheel.IMG_3121.jpg

That is a pretty cool idea, on my short bed truck you would have to leave the tailgate down in order for that to work, that's another reason I fabbed up the Bed Bars.
