Flex seal isn't even bullet proof. Well sorta... some pew pew youtuber guy put 80 layers of that stuff together and it barely stopped a 22.

I bet that stuff gets soft and melts at around 120. I wouldn't put it near any sort of heat source.

To find an exhaust leak, take the whole thing off, tape up the ends, and dunk it in a river (just not in clear view of an EPA official, lol) or maybe your neighbor's pool. look for bubbles.

 

It's got to be somewhere in the two flanges. There's nowhere else it can be

I feel like the Amazon headers could be the problem too...I know people have had bad luck with eBay headers and getting them to seal properly

 

Oh there's no doubt in my mind that they may be 99% of the problem, I just don't want to admit it yet lmao. You get what you pay for

 

Take about a 3ft piece of garden hose or fuel line type hose. Hold one end against year ear and run the other end around the exhaust flanges. You'll hear the noise when you find it.

 

yeah there was some guy on here that got some headers off of eBay and was defending the hell out of them until he installed them and a week later posted that they were absolutely terrible and had bad seals/leaks. With how big of a pain it is to do headers on these trucks (at least on the 3.4) I wouldn't chance it with unknown brands, but I'm sure it's easier to do them on the 4cyl so maybe not as big of an issue

 

This is why you don't buy critical parts for your vehicle from a company that sells books and nerf guns.
