I looked at NM lemon law. You’ll have to give them four tries to fix it. If they cannot, it’s eligible for the lemon law but back.

I’m not an expert but here’s what I’d do. I’d take it back and be sure to tell them that you still hear the noise. Emphasize this is the second time you are back for the same issue. At the same time, call Toyota Customer Care and explain your concern for the long term reliability of your truck given you are returning for the second time for the same issue with howling. Hopefully, that’s the last time you’ll need to go back.

    Good luck.

BTW, don’t trade it in or sell. You have the right to have it repaired and for them to buy it back if they cannot fix it.

Overall, it's arguably worse after the TSB. The howl showed up at two very defined points pre-tsb. It's MAYBE a little quieter at those two points, but now the sound shows up all over the board at several different speeds.

I can hear the very slight howl/sound that I'd imagine to be typical in most trucks. But then all of the sudden at a certain speed, it's literally like a louder sound "turns on". Like you've flipped a switch to make a clarinet sound.

See how much CarMax will give you for it. They buy vehicles straight out.

Carvana will also. The calculator below is pretty neat. Just enter your license plate number and state along with a few more questions. My 7 month old CR-V only lost $3,000 in value.

Here’s the deal, if you sell please don’t come back and post all day long in the 3rd section about how shitty they are. Right @LarsonFan

Ha! If I sell, I'll come back to say a final goodbye to this great community and end my 9 year run.

Don't they actually have to do something to qualify as a "fix attempt"?

Call Toyota corporate. When I bought my 2000 T4R it was 'mis-aligned'. I didn't notice it on the test drive. I took it in to 2 different dealers and they both said it was aligned to spec. I called Toyota corporate, they had the dealership called me for an appointment. They replaced my tires with a set of Michelins and it fixed the problem.
Sounds like you just need to escalate things.
    Good luck

Things have been escalated. I think I have 25+ phone calls between me and the dealer and corporste in the last two months. Multiple trips to the dealer. Corporate has told me twice that everything is normal. TSB didn't work and now apparently were waiting for another fix. The dealer is waiting on corporste.

I've got everything written down. Dates, times, etc.

Nope. You complained of howling. If they did you a wall job, that's still attempt #1.

One thing I didn't mention was "unable to verify customer complaint". It's something you want to avoid. You might wanna take the service manager or tech on a test ride so that hear what you are hearing.

Please do your homework and beat them at their game of not fixing the truck.

We've been on multiple test rides. One before the tsb and one after.

I don't see how they can say it's a characteristic of the truck if it isn't there from mile 1. Some here didn't have the howl until a few thousand miles in. That sounds like something wearing out of spec. A dimensional non-conformance in the rear differential. Anyone know where Toyota sources the difs?

I think I'm going to press for the lemon law. I've been back to the dealer a total of 4 times, only once did they actually do anything (applied the tsb). Twice were ride-alongs. The other time was the first time I went back with the truck and no one was there that could look at it.
