Just wondering if this is a Discount Tire specific tire. I can't find them elsewhere.

I only saw one other thread so far about these and not a lot of insights yet. Any additional thoughts on them compared to other popular options. Looking for a 3 season tire that is quiet and won't drop my MPG but also capable off road - specifically rocky terrain like this

    Hi, Jim-

You are correct, the Wrangler UltraTerrain AT is exclusive for Discount Tire/America's Tire.

I haven't seen any first-hand reviews of this tire just yet - this is likely due to the fact that this model was recently released.

What I can tell you about this tire model is that it's designed for applications that mainly see daily duties with occasional off-road sprinkled in. The tread pattern has less void ratio (when compared to say the DuraTrac) which means it will handle better on-road while also delivering a quieter ride. The carcass utilizes 2-ply sidewall construction so it's good for light off-road conditions and rocks (picking the right line helps) and shouldn't impact MPG much as the weight is on par with other tire models in equal size/construction.

Thanks. Would you say it's on par with the stock wranglers (w/Kevlar) or better or worse?

    Happy to help, phdog!

I don't have any data to compare the two, but at a glance, the UltraTerrain AT is more aggressive in the tread when compared to the O.E. Wrangler making it more capable off-road. The UltraTerrain AT also carries the 3PMSF rating where the O.E. Wrangler does not. I would say the most comparable model from the Goodyear Wrangler line-up would be the TrailRunner AT, but with a slightly more aggressive tread design.

Thanks. I'm looking for something "better" than the OEM tires and these seem to be pretty close to an all-around AT tire for my needs. I do have snow tires that I plan to swap out still - at least until they wear out.

Dedicated winter tires are definitely the way to go when the conditions call for it.

For a three season tire, I would venture to say the UltraTerrain is a solid choice and an upgrade over factory.

    Thanks again.

Out of curiosity, are there any good promotions on the horizon? The current rebate isn't overly exciting. We need a buy 4 get one free (the spare) deal :)

I don't see any Goodyear specific promotions on the horizon but the next big national promotion will take place around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Got me a set today from Discount Tire. OTD price including certificates, installation, taxes, and state fees $984.00 not including rebates. The Discount location I go to is very helpful and customer service is top notch. I walked in around 2 pm for a set of new tires. I asked if they would have it done before closing (5 pm) and they were busy. They said yes and I left my truck there. I went to pick it up at about 4:45 pm and started to drive home when I heard a clicking noise as I was driving. I knew they were closed tomorrow so I drove back hoping to catch them. They were rolling down the garage doors when I told them about my issue. They took it for a quick test drive and they were able to duplicate the issue. They opened up the garage and took off all the tires and rebalanced and remounted them after hours and fixed it. The problem was something to do with the weights and they had to reposition them. All in all a good experience. New tires are 265/75-16. Original tires were 245/75-16.

    Mike,

Thank you for the excellent video. Good job on including a lot of good information. It was fun watching the time lapse of the guys at Discount Tire changing out your tires.

We look forward to more of your videos in the future.

Got these tires installed today and they are quiet, but I think all the new tires are like that at first. Love the agressive look on them. Had the BFGs before so will see how they run.
