It was a pretty terrible experience. I would still buy a second gen because the 3rd gens engine and trans is so horrible and they killed the manual 4 banger.

    I dunno, I feel like you’d adjust.

My new truck feels Completely different than my other one. Still getting use to it.

Not me cause that means more shit that'll break and less that I can fix myself. I agree with the direction just not the execution of the truck

I can't adjust to having the torque curve of a microvan in a pickup. It was a completely incompetent driving experience, almost as if they didn't try driving it before making it.

Were not talking about Chrysler electronics here. 3rd gens are the same as 2nd gens aside from power train and body panels. Same frame, same basic cab layout etc. Some guys are even swapping head units between the two.

I’ve never even seen the inside of one in person, can’t really have an opinion on them other than being neutral

Think 2nd gen interior size and seats but with black everything and a dash that looks like it came from a Rav4

The interior is nice and comfy and the body styling isn't bad, the suspension and frame might as well be a second gen (same shit works) but the drivetrain is crap. Ruined it and each TSB supposedly make it less shitty than before, but they promised the EPA certain numbers which means until a new generation we're stuck with this struggling V6 and indecisive trans that wants to keep the engine out of its rev range. The trans treats the engine like a truck engine and expects low RPM and high torque while the engine doesn't make jack squat for power until 3-4k

I wouldn't mind retiring my first gen as the DD with a 2nd gen.

Oh don't get me started on Chrysler electronics.

The '94 Grand Cherokee I was working on had 3x the amount of wires and computer modules than our trucks.

If I had the money and was gonna buy a brand new Toyota for a daily I'd buy a 4Runner over a Tacoma. Not really gonna haul shit in a brand new truck anyway so might as well have extra interior space. No sense in a pickup bed that isn't gonna get used
