Me too. This bike was stolen from me twice. The second time it didn't come back.

Not the last time I saw it.

Edit: The bike in the picture doesn't appear to have an extended swing arm. I think it's the angle.

    It was a 600

1000's are cool but I have way more fun on 600's. Super nimble machines.

Might be, but it looks like the rear tire extends well past the rear fender. I'm on my phone so it's hard to tell.

Amen. Usable power throughout the band everywhere.

Im guessing the 1000s are a lot heavier?

Do you have to rev the bigger motors out more? seems like the bigger the motor, the more low end torque you'd make..

1000's have lots of power. It's noticable over a 600, like a supercharged taco vs stock I imagine.

1000's are fast. 600's can be fast. I liked my 600 because I could lean the thing all the way over effortlessly. It was a great bike for corners. Going fast in a straight line is boring compared to twisties.

There is no reason to extend a swing arm on a 600. +1200's, sure. 1000's maybe. 600's stupid.

The weight difference is marginal, but considering the weight to power ratio of each, a few pounds makes an appreciable difference.

The larger motors make more of... Everything.

I prefer 600 to a 1000 for street and even track riding for a variety of reasons, particularly because they're a bit more nimble, easier to corner, better mid-corner and corner exit speed, a later braking point, and quicker full throttle.

The thing about sport bikes is that they're made to be nimble and corner. Anything with opposable thumbs can turn a throttle, and in a straight a way the 1000 will beat out a 600 every time. It's in the finesse, the curves, that really exemplifies the strengths and weaknesses of different bikes, not to mention the weakness of the riders. Most sport bike riders aren't that good to begin with, and most think bigger is better. So they'll walk around thinking they have a big ole dong until they're been clowned in the twisties by a competent rider on a 600.

I've seen riders on 250s clown other riders on 600+ because the 250 riders are just plain better.

Thanks for the run down. That makes alot of sense! The more i learn about sport bikes, the more i know if i ever owned one id end up killing myself.. the power to weight ratio on those things is ridiculous!!

Had a first happen to me on the way home. Was cruising along with all my windows down, and my arm out the drivers window.. all of the sudden, smack, i took out a big juicy bug with my hand. Splattered all over the place. Wasnt expecting that one:p

    Be careful out there gentlemen..

A couple months out of the year, its balls to the walls, but the rest of the year is pretty easy going. Its not a bad work-life balance

I thought the same until I bought one. The power is intoxicating, but at the end of the day, as long as you respect the power and are honest about your riding abilities, you'll be fine. Take the basic and advanced MSF courses taught by good instructors, and participate in track days to learn and refine advanced skills. Those advanced skills are what will save your life in adverse situations, and you'll learn more about your bike than you ever thought possible. You'll likely run out of ability well before you run out of bike. After that, the biggest threat you'll face is other drivers.

I agree! In my area though, the deer are more of a threat than other drivers.. those damn things are crazy, totally unpredictable. I have found that they haul ass when they hear me coming now because of my loud exhaust. Shouldve added that a long time ago!:D

I remember a close call riding FM 337. I was riding at a pretty good clip when an Axis ran across the road just in front of me. Scared the crap out of me. Had to pull the seat from between my cheeks.

Yeah man, theyre no joke when youre riding.. my neighbor died a few years back from hitting a deer on his harley. The bad thing is, theyre moving all day long, so you really cant avoid them completely, just try to avoid riding at night to mitigate the risk..
