Posted this in the BS thread last night, but probably should have put it in here.

Anyone looking for duck loads should check out the Walmart on Tatum and Bell. I picked up some Winchester SuperX 3” #2 for $5 a box. I left some boxes there. They also had anotherWinchester brand, Xpert,3” #4 for $9 a box. The SuperX has a $2 mail in rebate per box right now.

Have any of you guys heard of the az small game challenge? I just came across it on g&f website last night. Basicall you pay $25, which is matched by g&f and given to some quail preservation organization. There's 4 challenges and you can complete one per year. You get a plaque with your completed challenges on it. Seems pretty cool.

Thanks for this. I think I can fill out a few of these with any typical season of mine.

So... I signed up for it and basically you're buying a ticket off an event website that is good for one year. And you can only complete one challenge per year so it seems like you have to pony up $100 total to complete all 4 challenges over 4 years, and if you don't complete a challenge in any given year then you're out the $25 for that year. Before I bought the "ticket" I was thinking it was $25 total to sign up and you complete challenges whenever you complete them. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up before you spend your money.

I saw the in the rules you have to be a member of the chapter of Quail Unlimited to partake in the challenge as well.

Which challenge did you sign up for? Interested in an AZTW day to wrap up some of these.

I didn't see the part about needing to be a member. I'm gonna have to read back through it tonight. I'll either go for the quail slam or desert challenge this year since those will be the easier ones for me to do. Which are you thinking of doing?

    Quail or the desert combo.

The mountain one looks appealing, I have wanted to try a Blue grouse hunt. I will be going tree squirrel hunting for the opener.

I'd like to try the blue grouse too. Also the chukkar and squirrels. That's part of what was appealing to me about this whole thing- it'll get me into some new areas and new game species. Where you heading for squirrel?

Around Bill Williams Mountain. I had a turkey tag last year in the area, saw all the squirrels around and no turkey, so I shifted gears and started plinking away. I have to see if the limits changed year over year, but it was 4 a day last year. It’s fun, but not as easy as you would think. Each one has a territory of 20 acres. Once they go up a tree, they disappear too.

Can you link me the site that says you have to be a quail forever member? I can't find anything that says that.

I took that to mean you had to have already bought your $25.00 ticket since it says registration is limited to 300.

Sweet deal! Maybe we can get together to knock out the mountain challenge next year or in 2020.
