    As David K, says

    For 3rd gens (TRD OR or PRO) only:
    A-TRAC is a latching push button switch for the Manuals, and need only be pushed once and will be active from then on when entering 4Lo automatically.
    MTS is NOT a latching push button switch for autos, and must be pushed after entering 4Lo every time.

    Thanks for that Ted. Let's add that that is for 3rd Gens, too. I am an automatic 2nd Gen, so "pre-MTS". ;) (Yes, the thread title is 2017..., so my input is dated data)

    Let me modify one part of my comment since I do not live in snow and my four wheeling is primarily, mountains, deserts, and beaches: Spinning tires have one value, and that is to clean out the tires of compacted snow or mud, so use the open differential choice if that is needed.
