Installed a safari snorkel so dont need cheap Chinese one. Also dont use the CB and it's kind of big. I'll either install a small one or just use my handheld. Also been messing with GMRS. I had surgery about a month ago and just recently mobile so I've been just bored and listing some stuff I dont use.

    OK cool!
Glad you're mobile now! Did you ever work out the issue you had with a detailer?

What told you it could be a head gasket? Search results from that engine code?

This^ coolant and oil are your best early clues for a bad head gasket.

My wife’s Subaru Outback had a bad head gasket and it only had a very small leak so it took forever to troubleshoot.

Initial problem was overheating. Changed thermostat, radiator, rad cap. Still kept overheating. The pressure would leak out of the cylinder and pressurize the radiator, which would overflow the coolant reservoir and eventually when it got low enough on coolant, the engine would get hot enough to register the “hot” light on the dash.

Never had any change in exhaust, never had milky oil, no noticeable oil in the coolant.

I changed the thermostat and rad cap myself then decided it was a head gasket issue. Brought it in to Subaru for warranty and they said it was a bad radiator so they changed that and gave it back to us. A couple days later we brought it back in with the same problem and requested they look at the head gaskets. Turns out one was bad. So they changed both and while it was apart we had them do the timing belt.

    What’s a ucon ?

Credit card dispute. That’s it. Truck is garage kept anyway so I didn’t bother to do anything else with it.

Yeah, that’s the tuner that I went with.

And yes, stock ECU is no bueno with the supercharger. I also was not 100% that it was the UCON until the replacement took care of the cyl #2 misfire.

There was fuel running out of the tailpipe. Towing it home was the only sensible option.

    OK. Need an opinion here.

I'm gonna try to fix my #5 cylinder misfire with new plugs and a new Ignition coil.

It easy and cheap to replace all 6 spark plugs.

But what about the ignition coils? Since the truck is 14 years old, should I just go ahead and replace all 6 coils and be done with it?

Are the other five current coils due to fail due to age?

The best deal I could find for OEM Denso coils is at Advance Autoparts. With a 25% coupon code, the price is $47 each.

    @loosnut @HolyHandGrenade @Wheelspinner @stairgod and others, please chime in.

    Yep.
Don't worry about replacing all of them, they're not a preventative maintenance part and failures are very rare. The majority of those failures are due to water intrusion.

Had a coil go bad on my 05 around 120k, it happened after an engine detail.... aka water.
