Rear Bumper Alignment

After washing my truck this past weekend, I noticed that the rear bumper seems to be out of alignment. The gap between the rear fender and the edge of the bumper on the passenger side (below the tail light) is closer than the driver's side.

Is there a way to adjust the bumper?

 

Are you sure that is the bumper and not the bed it self ???.
I got mine, built in Mexico, came with the bed aprox 1" gap difference from from left to right. The reason was not because is built in Mexico but because Toyota got greedy and want to make them cheaper.
Check the distance between the cab and the bed at first then work your way back.
Either one- bumper or the bed,, they can be adjusted. Just loosen up the bolts, adjust and tie them back.

 

Good point, I'll have to check that out tonight. Is it the bed bolts in the bed that you loosen to adjust?

 

I accidentally tapped my rear bumper in the right corner while backing up. Lightly, mind you. Very lightly, against a very small birch tree. There was no dent, and I didn't even scratch the paint.

That's when I discovered that what looks like a bumper is no thicker than a fender.

When I looked at it the gap on the left was 1.5" while the gap on the right was only 0.5" now.

I sat on the ground, grabbed the end of the "bumper" with both hands, put my feet against a wood box, shoved against the rear tire, and straightened that sucker right out.

Now I'm not Charles Atlas (Who??...OK, Hulk Hogan for you young guys) but clearly this thing is less sturdy than a soup can.

Bumper is easy to adjust, pop your head under there and you'll see the mounting bolts. Loosen, adjust, tighten.

x2.i've noticed mine too.very thin and weak,needs some supports at the ends of the bumper.

 

I backed into something the other day and pushed in one side in about 1/2 inch. Do I just loosen the two (large) bolts on each side of the bumper or do I need to loosen the other bolts that are attached to the receiver hitch as well? I just loosened the two on one side of the bumper and but wouldn't budge at all.

 

My bumper was "a bit off" after some dumbass plowed into me at a light! $4000. later.....I just picked up the Taco today, just like new. BTW ..want to buy a bumper??? It's V shaped!!
