I honestly only chose the DOM because it wasn't that much more expensive, and figured why not. I'm probably never going to wheel that hard in this truck. Its more the 10-20 degree difference that I'm concerned about.

Makes sense. I have 10 deg on my newer trucks to try and save the body, but on my sased beaters that run larger tires I build them flat so I can use them as a step since they are so tall.

I saw a post in his vendor forum that is talking about how the tariffs are killing the supply of DOM and the cost is 300% higher right now. I know what I would do, but you decide.

I think I'm going to wait, the only reason I'd want them at 10 degrees is so my grandma could use them as steps, but she'd still need a step stool to even reach them so no point really.

Make it through there without body damage? Every time I try I just about break my windshield.

Watched my brother in his full width FJ40 walk it a couple of times though, that was fun.

Son was driving it and he walked it nicely. That long wheel base makes a bunch of those spots fairly easy since you dont end up with your rear wheels in the hole right before the rock while your front wheels are in the air. I had a first gen 4runner that I sased and it always had issues in the spots that this truck walks up.

Two weekends ago we went to the con and it spanked all the other sased toyotas we were with and the main difference was swb vs lwb. Lots of 3 point turns though, LOL. But thats also why I run arbs rather than detroits.

Is your 85 an RE? Do you want a couple heads? I just moved to smaller house and went through all my parts and I ended up with 7 RE heads all need rebuilt. I hate scrapping them cause they are oem made in japan heads.

Hmm, i was gunna go with 10* to give me a little more width to keep my precious sheet metal farther away from things(after i cut my flat sliders off that is). Bummer about the price increase tho

No just an 22r. I actually have a 22re and a 22re-t that need rebuilding.

I was going to do a swap at one point but my carburetor has (mostly) been fine for everything I need it to do.

At one point, before kids, I was wheeling it pretty hard but these days I don't have the time to fix it if I break so I just putter around mostly.

I actually just had my third son so I'm thinking of selling it to get something with more seat belts and maybe an open canopy. first gen 4runner or wrangler, something like that would be fun.

1st gen 4runner would be the ticket if you already have built diffs, longfields, dual tcases, etc. Just move it all over. The only bad part is that the rear seat sits high due to the fuel tank, so if your kids are tall they are going to rub.

My father has an 85 xcab that is a 22r thats been in the family since almost new. I have 3 complete sets of RE swap parts but his carb is still working good enough to run all the hard trails without a hiccup. I have been scheming on a 3rz swap for him so we can reuse his dual cases without a ton of money into adapters like going to a 5vze.

Let me know if you decide to sell your rig. I have lots of people asking me about toys for sale. I was in the store the other day and some older man asked me if I lived at that "toyota truck car lot", lol. Then proceeded to ask if I could find him a low mileage T100.

Oh hey I know who you are. I worked with your Dad at TUD for a little while like ten years ago. My brother Todd was there for a while too.

I'm seriously considering selling. I haven't gotten it on Craiglist yet but I'll let you know if/when I get that serious.

The advice that @roguegs gave me was using a credit card with 15-month 0% interest. ;):spending:
