Mechanic called late yesterday to say my setup was on! Alignment today.
    Pics soon!
Now, it's tire size decision time. 99% set on Cooper ST Maxx.
The debate is, do I stay at 265/75/16, or go up to 275 or 285? Leaning towards staying the same.
285 should fit w/o having to do a BMC?

From what I have read, someone may correct me, as long as you dont go full stuff on a 2.5" lift up to 285's will fit. The moment you go offroad and stuff them they will rub the cab mount. If its a mall crawler you might be fine.

You’re not gonna clear a 285/75/16 without a CMC imo. No matter what offset your wheels are you’re gonna need a CMC.

Looks good, did you end up going with 265’s?

Haven't bought new yet. These are old, but yes, they are 265's. Leaning towards keeping them the same. But switching to Cooper ST MAXX.

Very beefy tire, it’s a great tire though. I run the Cooper AT3 XLT

The reviews are great and apparently it’s good in snow. My truck is my daily and I live in the north spending my weekends in the dirt. Lots of sandy, gravelly trails.

Can anyone running this setup tell me how much down travel you have after the lift? I’m OCD about retaining my down travel and am wondering if I should just bite the bullet and extended C/Os

My understanding is every inch we lift is an inch lost in down travel. From what I’ve read, 5100s grant no extra travel whereas an extended C/O might give around an inch or so to compensate for the loss in down travel. I would like to achieve around 2-2.5” of lift but I am curious exactly how much down travel that would leave me with. I don’t want to have issues with topping out or clunking. I also plan on running TC UCA.

The spring flexes both ways. How would it top out if the down travel is limited? It's like you're saying opposite things. Maybe I need more coffee.

I think he means the shock will fully extend and top out

I still have a limited understanding so I am probably doing a poor job of explaining. From my understanding, stock travel is 8 inches. That means 4” up travel and 4” down travel. Assuming 5100s have the same amount of travel, that would mean a lift of 2.5” would take 2.5” away from my downtravel, leaving me with 1.5” of down travel. Wouldn’t that mean the shocks would easily hit full extension over bumps?

Maybe but that has been discussed 100+ times in this thread. It's basically why this thread exists because of the nitrochargers experiencing OSBGC. They don't top out on extension with 885s.

This is an 885s thread so I'm assuming you are pairing the 5100s with those springs. If that is the case, the springs do the lifting, not the shock.

    Also, see above post.
