    I always considered it a means to deflect road debris that could hit the suspension? I removed mine years ago.

    I was thinking it was where a mounting bracket for a factory grill guard or something similar as I have never seen a factory bar or guard ?

    I use it to mount my ORV flag (made a mount that clamps onto this), but I'd really like to know what it's intention is. The last time I looked at this though, I thought it was one piece that goes across the entire front of the truck? It looks like it's nested inside other metal...

    It slides inside the other tube. looks like its just a "plug" until you install the mystery accessory.
