I'll note, I never said they weren't unmitigated garbage, just that they're modular and work. If I'm going to spring for a gun over that, I'm going custom ground-up.

Honestly guys, I effing hate savages. I know they make some very nice upper line Products, but my exposure to the axis line and some of the other lower end ones, have completely ruined them with me. I would rather pay for a Ruger American anything over them, even if they gave me a savage axis anything free! (Even if they paid me to own it). Obviously that is just my opinion but that is where I stand with it. And I don’t ever see it changing

My issue with Savage (and I haven't touched one in a VERY long time) is that the bolt always seemed to stick and require significant force to get open. Even with mild loads.

That is the only issue I have with my Savage Model 10 FCP-SR, anything loaded above Remington core-lokt will make the bolt stick and I essentially have to mortar the rifle to get it to open. I bought some surplus 7.62x51 rounds and they are so hot I have to hammer the bolt open.
The sear broke so I sent it back to savage and they fixed the trigger for free and looked over the entire rifle and said everything was fine.
Dustin Ellerman also has the same issue as me with his.

Something is most definitely wrong there, 7.62x51 should be loaded lighter than standard loads. 58ksi vs 62ksi for 308 Win.

My point made exactly, I have never had a Nother bolt rifle manufacture have that kind of problem. (And yes, I know when you start taking things out of parameters that kind of stuff will happen). But I’m speaking about factory ammo and factory rifles.

( case in point, every 3 1/2 inch 1911 out there)

Core lokt isn’t loaded to max pressure, I believe most of it is caused by 2 things, thicker brass of the NATO cartridge and the surplus I picked up is know to be “hot” for NATO specs.

Yep, I’m considering taking it to a smith and have him check the chamber (I don’t see anything visually wrong) and possibly polish it a little bit and see if there’s anything that can be done to help.

Correct, at least have them put the reamer in it and see where everything is.

I dropped my Mod-10 in a Bell & Carlson, I’ve since repainted it and sanded down the sharp edges.

I roll my own ammo and mine are at the high end of SAAMi pressure specs, gun has near 10k rounds through it.

I was actually looking at a B&C stock just now. I was thinking of ordering this one since it's made for the bottom bolt release and in the color I want instead of the HS which I'd have to modify and get the same features out of it.

I could, but it weighs a ton. It's probably more expensive to buy mine and ship it than to buy one new.

21 Nosler 70gr RDF's loaded up for testing. I've heard these are good, but we'll see if my rifle likes them. For the handloaders: COAL 2.420, 25.1gr Varget, CCI 450, mixed brass weighing in at 100gr +-1gr.

Edit: If anybody knows a guy trying to unload a 1-7 or 1-8 twist 223 Savage barrel, I'm buying.
