It's a little far from here, but...anyone interested in doing the Applegate Lassen trail with me in a couple weeks? Runs from Southern Oregon to Nevada and California and goes through Black Rock Desert (Burning Man).

Would be 2-3 day thing, theres some pioneer graves, hot springs, wagon ruts, wagon hulks, Black Rock Desert, etc.

If it's 2-3 days I might be able to make it.

 

I just had a meeting get scheduled for 10/06 in San Francisco, so either 3-4 (1 day in transit, 2-3 on trail) days before that or 3-4 days after that.

 

If it's after then I'm in.
Gotta be back by 11th in the am to take over toddler duties while the wife goes to Japan.

Going to be installing my ARB safari snorkel pretty soon and wanted to see if anyone near Snohomish has a a hole saw I can use. I believe it calls for a 4.5" hole saw.

I used a Dremel cut off wheel on my third gen and have no regrets. At least for the third gen they give you a great template that would be almost impossible to jack up.

 

Yeah I have a good template as well. I had planned to cut the two holes then dremel/cut off wheel the excess as oppose to a cut off wheel for all. or if I had some shears that would probably work good too.

 

In the gun world, the Dremel is the primary tool of the WECSOG gunsmith......

Dremels are pretty amazing. Almost never the right tool for the job, but almost always a top pick.....

 

I can't count the amount of times I've used a Dremel because I didn't want to get up and go find the right tool.

 

I've done it too. Most times I escape with just a minor "oh shit" moment when the bit/grinder/cutoff attachment goes fucky. But there is always "that one time" when it decides to skate across the surface you don't want marred up.....

I've also noticed that PPE (gloves and eye protection) when using a Dremel seem to be under-utilized as well.

 

Odd that the type of fudd that would use a dremel on a gun is also the type of fudd that doesnt wear PPE...
