Here’s my 2018 with the revtek 3” leveling kit 285/17 tires and 17” TRD wheels. Looks absolutely sick for the price maybe I’ll drop the money on coil over lift at some point but this allowed me to get the wheels and tires. Beware MPG nosedived even after corrected for larger wheels. 165F98F0-54FD-4C48-963F-DA0875E61C6B.jpg

Looks good. Is that the revtek 427 kit?

I’d do the exact type of leveling kit if I go the leveling kit route.

My fear is that with a leveling kit, when I do the occasional off roading, nothing hardcore - I’m not gonna try and crawl up boulders - I’m afraid of over extending the stock shocks/struts and busting them up. I’ve seen other threads explaining how this can be a problem and is in the realm of possibilities with the leveling kits.

But god damn it’s so much more budget friendly to level with spacers. Most people on Tacomaworld, I’ve found, think spacers are shit, however.

Thanks. What I like about my ford, and any older truck for that matter, is that it’s so easy and inexpensive to work on. Probably why my truck has been on the road for 40 + years. Hope my Tacoma is still on the road that long.

Looking forward to learning the sophisticated machine that is the Tacoma

    It’s this one:
    http://www.revtek.com/vehicle-selec...ront-1-5-rear-with-integrated-technology.html

Yeah a $3k lift isn’t on the radar for a bit. I am sure this can handle the light off roaring I’ll be doing - really can’t see banging up a $50k truck right off the bat.

Indeed. He built it with metal destined for scrap. He customizes however - lights, handles, team logos, winch mounts, wire mesh, whatever. He helped conceptualize the rack I wanted and welded it on the spot. Mounted using side rails on bed without any drilling. Better than any racks I’ve seen for sale online, of which they’re aren’t many for Tacomas.

I haven’t seen many racks on Tacomas and a buddy told me that, traditionally, tacomas dont usually carry racks. I think they’re functional as hell and look pretty cool. Congrats on the new Tacoma, love that color. The local dealer has 1 and might go after that or all black. I too have a ranger, 98 with 46,000 but it's too small for me. And been also lurking this world, watching alot of videos on YouTube. Can't wait till I get mine. But why the sr5? I would be happy with the sr or if I can do it the off road, the sr5 seems like it's fancier than a truck should be

Powder coat would’ve cost me $150+ so we used three cans of $6 bed liner spray. Should do the job fir a while

I would love to see if you could ask your friend about a rack for a 2015. Does he do work for other people

I’m positive he could do a rack for a 2015. He does them all the time for many different trucks. Just a matter of how close to Albuquerque you are. Where you located?

Not exactly sure why the SR5. I really didn’t know what to get into with a Tacoma coming from Fords. I wanted only a few things from a Tacoma: it’s style, 4 doors, upgraded interior compared to my ranger, V6, and 4x4. It was next to impossible for the dealer to get me just those things without the other bells and whistles. Tires, Wheels and suspension were not a factor for me as I knew I would upgrade them soon after I got the truck.

What I don’t quite understand yet is why some people pay for the fanciest TRD models only to take out its TRD suspension and wheels, and put fancier, pricier suspension and wheels in its place.

A guy I know did just this thing - $4k (plus install which prob cost a ton) on icon stage something lift with aftermarket wheels and knobby Tires - taking out a lot of what presumably made that TRD $$$ in the first place.

Isn’t it more economical to get a lesser model if your just gonna replace the main suspension components and wheels/tires? Is there more to some TRDs than just the suspension/wheels? Something to do with interior/engine performance I’m thinking? I’m new to Tacomas so I don’t know.
