I seen a couple threads but I dont think they mention exactly what type of oil/how much.

My owners manual says 3.31L API GL 5 SAE 80 or 80w-90 for below -18. I live in Canada and we get snow so I should get the below -18C?

Also I have a regular rwd 2.7L Tacoma I believe it doesn't have a LSD. There would be a button on the dash if it did correct?

Also should I go to Toyota for the oil or just pick up whatever I can find?

I have never done the rear diff oil since owning the truck. Is this cause for concern? Got it at 150Km now at 270km. There is a minor/medium noticeable vibration when giving it gas. I believe it to be the rear diff but I'm no machanic. What do you think could the old oil cause a bit of a vibration?

Also will I need some sort of pump for the oil or is there enough room to just pour the bottle in. I cracked the filler and drain no problem just to make sure they weren't rusted solid and re tightened them.

Thanks so much for any help!

Did mine 2 weeks ago (2010 Prerunner). Rear diff was easy - 22m socket, open the fill plug first to make sure it opens (looks like you have done that already) then drain. The diff fluid smells terrible.

I replaced mine with Amsoil. You can order a hand pump from there too - the best way to get the fluid in and only like $7.

I changed the transmission fluid at the same time. There is a thread on here that gives you step by step directions. Was a lot easier than I expected.

Yes I am kind of searching for that thread. I saw it a while ago can't seem to find it now.

Where did you get the hand pump?

I will get you a link. My son ordered the fluid and pumps from the same place.

the pump is essential? Looked like there was enough room under there.

Fist time I did this I didn't have a pump. Dropped the spare tire so I had plenty of room to pour fresh oil in. After that I bought a pump. They can be had for around $5 on Amazon. Worth it. Especially because you will need one if you ever do the transmission.

Couldn't find any 80w-90 readily available. Was told the difference between 75w and 80w is negligible.

Pretty sure Toyota calls for full synthetic.
That cheap one doesn't say anything about synthetic or synthetic blend so I'd assume it's all old dinosaurs.
