The emergency brake light on the dashboard stays on even when the emergency brake is not on - after awhile it goes off when I hit a bump or fool with it. Question - is there an adjustment - if so where and how ? Thanks for any reply.

    Check the brake fluid level.

I will - the emergency brake is mechanical working with cable - what would that have to do with brake fluid ?? Thanks.

The brake reservoir has a float with a magnet in it. Mounted in the side of the master cylinder reservoir is a magnetic reed switch. The reed switch turns on the light.

Thank you very much for the explanation - I'd have no idea how to learn this otherwise.

It could still be the parking brake switch though. Is the parking brake cable adjusted properly? Look under there and see if the little push button switch has started to fall off its perch.

Thank-you! This solved my problem. No more “red light BRAKE” on my dashboard.

Next thing I’d check is the brake system for leaks.
