I saw one abandoned in a Sears auto center parking lot, which was also abandoned.

There was a whole transmission sitting in the back seat. Guess the guy never paid his bill.

Saw two guys trying to shove an engine hoist into the backseat of their JDM RHD Toyota Chaser Mark II at Harbor Freight. Pretty cool.

 

I honestly have yet to see a a340 or the newer taco 5 speed go bad

 

Same exact trans. Different number. I believe the gear ratios are different to

And the clutch’s. hell landcruisers have more clutch’s than ours too

 

Way too rough towing way too much going way too fast with way too much heat = trans go bye bye. Bought it at 249k. Trans died at 280k

 

Trans cooler and scanguage going in before i tow anything ever again

Yes but it was still the same trans setup. It’s a good transmission. It’s also known as the aw4 in the jeeps

Clutch pack count is the only difference I’ve known of. And gear ratios.

 

You can rebuild the a340 to 343 specs. At least from what my trans guy says he’s done.

 

Or just get a r150 like a cool kid...

It’s practically the same trans with a different gear ratio that was better for the turbo

 

I keep debating the manual route. But the only numbers matching part left on my truck is the trans!

 

Besides I’d put a Supra 6 speed in and somehow get a transfer case onto the bitch
