Bilstein 5100 questions. I have pictures..

Alright two quick questions before I start my install..

Is this correct when installing?



And, how do you adjust this bad boy with the one spanner wrench?? And is it easier to do on or off truck? Thanks!!

 

i think that is the top, but those look nothing like my 5100's... they look like coilovers

 

Well yes they are the coilover set... sorry i should have mentioned.. They are from Toytec and are pretty old (3 years??). Never used though!

 

coilovers can be adjusted without being on the truck but ya have no real leverage that way, so its much easier to adjust them when theyre on the truck with it off the ground and the tire off.

 

the two nuts are more than likely opposite thread of each other...basically an adjustment nut and lock nut.

 

^^^ Yep. With the truck up on jacks and tires off, its fairly easy to adjust them. Still need some grunting, but not much.

By the way. How did get the Blueish coils?? they look good!

 

Actually, they are hypercoil's.. Toytec had them way long ago, just never put them on. By the way, did you have any problems rub wise with your tires? I have a set of 285/70/17s sitting around, just don't really want to deal with too much rub. What kind of backspacing do you have also?

I have 4" BS, and not too much rub. I had to trim very little.

 

Forgot to mention I got 3"s of lift..

 

Those don't look like 1st gen Tacoma coilovers. What kinda truck are you putting them on? Do you have a pic that shows the mount on the end you have marked "top"?

 

Those do look like Gen1 CO's (less top mtg plate) Do you have the plate?
To adjust (w/one wrench) Loosen lower lock collar and crank collar that is touching spring. Then tighten lwr collar
