I got lucky. There’s a little Air Force office on our base that no one knows about, so I was in and out in 15 minutes when I needed to renew mine.

    IT NEVER ENDS..........
So for those of you on the edge about the bed stiffeners and their actual validity I can attest to them being necessary. My dads 2010 long bed has had a shell on it since day 1 and my dad just got it 3 years ago. When I was home I immediately noticed the gap in the rear bed sides from the shell weight and my dad has leaking all over from the shell and bed not matching up very well. You can see the gap between tailgate and bed sides in the rear view mirror it was so bad. This was leading to water and wind getting into everywhere in his bed. We resealed everything with bulb seal and silicone in front and sides and minimized most of it but water and wind still come back in the rear gaps somehow. So I recommended he get a newer 2014-2015 2nd gen with new cap and bed stiffeners which he will be doing soon as he finds a decent color and priced truck locally in Washington state. If you don't have them and run a shell or bed rack or any weight on the bedsides in rear I would not hesitate at all to get them. @At The Helm makes a great set for a good price plus they sit below the bolts you can use for antennae or rear light mounts.

I can confirm that those bed stiffeners work, when I had my truck it had a shell on it for awhile. Put those bed stiffeners on them and pulled back to normal and stayed.

When do the leaves start to change color near Flagpole Knob? Mid/late October? I just moved here about a year back and need to get out in the woods this fall and do some camping and wheeling. I live in the Virginia Beach area but that thread is not nearly as active as this one. Any guidance appreciated.

They should be starting to change now. Peak color should be mid-late October.

I did not see anything in their forum here or on their website this morning about a sale, so I emailed them. They responded that it was going on now on the site. So when I got home and took care of a few things and showered I hopped on the computer and was in the process of checking out via Paypal when it booted me out and raised the price. Would have been nice to know it was from 1-3 their time only.

They also provide some additional tie down eyelets/holes in the rear of the bed, and a bottle opener to boot (depending on which ones you go with).

Any rides coming up? I’ve been a little busy and haven’t been able to keep up with the forum, but should have some weekends open over the next month or so

    Hey there!

I’m a fellow Taco owning NOVA-ite (Manassas) who recently discovered this thread because of Reddit. I’m fairly new to truck stuff, and have never really went seriously off-road. Looking to get into that sorta thing. Anywho, here is my baby! Hoping to have a tent and/or sliders/rack by the end of the year.
