Right on. I’m not sure if I’m worrying for nothing but either way it’s not a pricey mod.

Hooned my truck hard for the first time this weekend. Preran the 20 mile track Friday. Tore an ABS sensor loose on the first turn, muffler came loose from the catback at mile 3 (ratchet strapped it to the frame) and went 17 miles then lost my spare tire coming into the pits. Saturday the water in the creek crossings were too deep to get through, so they opened up a small part of the track. I did miles going as hard as it would go. After 5 laps I had fluid coming out of the differential. I filled it up and drove an hour home. I also realized I flattened an alignment tab. I guess it’s time to do shock tower/cam tab gussets and finally go up to 5.29s and a locker.

How are you guys securing your spare tires? I had the dial spares and two "cut proof" bike cables run between them and the cage but obviously that wasn't a strong option. Any ideas?

I thought it would be cool to make a round 'hub' with two or three lugs and use wheel lock lugs. If I keep a spare below the bed I'm going to weld up that kind of device so I don't have to worry about the spare being easy to steal. I'm pretty sure that would work in the bed too...

I am thinking of doing something similar but with a tube that connects to each tire since they are side by side and then have the lugs. It'll look kind of like a dumbell with the tires on either end. So far that's all I can come up with that seems like a strong enough deterrent

Mine was a steel tailgate with the stock tire winch from below the truck mounted to it. Obviously not that good of an idea if you’re going to bash your truck

I've got one for sale too but far enough away I wouldn't consider it being in competition :anonymous:

I measured and a 2nd gen axle is essentially the same width so I went with it.
