I’m lifting my SR5 3” and looking to get tires but I’ve read that only 265/75/16 will fit on my trucks stock wheel (https://www.hubcaphaven.com/p/23158/aly75190-toyota-tacoma-wheel-silver-painted-4261104150.html)

The shop I’m getting it lifted at and buying tires from says 285/75/16 will fit with no rubbing, is this true or does anyone with experience in a similar setup know the truth? I’ve searched all over the site but it’s hard to find discussion on stock wheels.

I need to know because if I can’t fit 285 I figure I may as well only lift 2” so the 265s don’t look goofy

They will rub the UCA. A wheel spacer would work but increase scrub radius.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
You can run a 255 85 16 with no lift and no rubbing using OE wheels. Fills the wheel wells nicely.

Hmm that’s not so bad, do you personally think another .5” would be too much for that tire?

I'm lifted all the way fox recommends which is 2" and roughly 23" hub to fender. I was 21 1/4" so I went 2" from there.

Other than the normal 33" talk, nobody notices the gap. And I've rolled through stuff that guys on 33s got hung up in. So I'll let my driving ability carry me for awhile until I chop and upgrade. Not in a rush though

Is the "pulling to the right" thing true with those?

Hmm I’m thinking I might go with a 2/1 lift and 265/75/16 then. Will I still be noticeably higher with that lift? I don’t want to not get the 3/1 and then still feel low, how does your height feel?
