The ARB is totally worth every red cent, but when:

-We go for a quickie in bear country w/mandatory bear boxes, the Yeti is much more efficient than any powered fridge. Extension cords are for jobsites, not campsites.
-Our adventures include rainy raft trips where a 12v fridge is just out of the question.
-We hit up Red Rocks or the like. I'd much rather have some neck beard smash and grab a $300 cooler than a $900 fridge.

-Ultimately, it's the dead fish. I'm not about to pressure wash fish guts out of the ARB. Not on my watch. Yeti = Angler's Dream Cooler

A Yeti45 is basically the exact same size as the ARB50. However, The ARB is a much more efficient use of that space. Once you fill half of the Yeti with ice, there is only about enough space for some beer/wine, a fat steak or two, and some fresh greens. When we go out for more than 2 days, the ARB wins hands down. Nothing better than being able to actually use leftovers when camping. Or just the idea of ALWAYS having cold foods/drinks. If you pack it wisely you can fit weeks of cold foods in it. It's a total game changer, kinda like the GFC.

Again, the ARB is an AMAZING product, just not ideal for every situation we get into.

Ah ha.... now not putting dead fish in your ARB, now that makes some good sense!!!!! That’s a fantastic explanation of fridges vs coolers... i run a 62qt and you’re right I can basically fit more food and drinks than I could ever really need. I normally end up with a gallon jug of water and 6-10 water bottles in it just to keep a cold mass in there. It’s a cavern...

+1 on the cold mass. Sometimes I toss a pillow in there too. Nothing better than a chilly pillow when sleeping in a hot desert.

I recently bought the Costway for $369 + tax on Amazon. So far its working well but I haven't given it a long term test yet. The only thing that bugs me is the latch malfunctioned. I took it apart, reinstalled the springs but it still doesn't catch. I just slip a piece of cardboard to wedge the top shut. It's not a big deal but nevertheless it could've been a better design. It cools down to ~30F in about 20 minutes. I'm going to run it off my powerblock and a 160W solar panel.

Good call - I've got some Noico 3mm sound deadening I used on the roof that should be enough to put along the back wall.

Just got the radio knobs from Hondo. Used 5rolledtacos as a discount and got them for 22 bucks. Tired of the stock crap they call knobs. Those aren’t knobs, they are nubs. Should get them soon.

I hope so!... When I go to use them, my finger nail rakes across the raised part of the screen. I’m afraid after awhile, it will get all scratched up. Whom ever designed it, should be shown the front door.

I have them. I bought them long before GFC was a thing... and I also used that code (found it on here too). Lol AR15 bolt face knobs... awesome... also two unholey dash mounts. Those will change your life!

I don't have a multimeter that will measure the DC amp draw.
I fully charged my 400Wh Li-Lon powerbank, hooked up the Costway, brought the temp down to ~32F and ran it overnight. The next morning the powerbank showed 80% remaining capacity.
