BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Do you have a smile on your face when you get out of the truck?

They are two completely different trucks that serve different purposes. If you need that much size and power, you'll love the Tundra. I put 180K miles on my 2011 Tundra before downsizing to my 17 Taco. I liked the Tundra for it's towing capabilities and highway ride quality. The build quality was excellent. But it was too big to be comfortable, both in the city and off-road. And I was averaging 14 mpg (16 on a good day). The cons of the Tundra outweighed the advantages for me.

It's pointless for me to join the debate on domestic vs Japanese 1/2 tons, but if I ever needed another full size truck I'd seriously look at a 3/4 ton diesel. They are the same size, but far more capable than any 1/2 ton. I have a couple friends with Duramax trucks. The capabilities and features blow away the Tundra and most 1/2 tons. I'm not sure I trust the long-term reliability of domestics but people say it's getting better.

Such homers. In my family, we have a new king ranch F150 ecoboost, new platinum F150 ecoboost, new king ranch F250. All fully loaded with all the crap that can break, and they’ve all been perfect. I’ve had 3 F150s, and my Tacoma saw the dealer 5 times as much as the fords did... because they were never there.

Toyota can ride the fallacy of reliability and quality from cars they used to make to try and cover up the shortcomings of their current offerings, but that will change soon.

I have a manual. I test drove all models, three were auto and one manual. The autos did fine. I liked manual best.
Many people come here and post, already having mentally made the decision and just looking for justification and support from others. They need affirmation that their decision is the right one.
Now, it's just my opinion but if you only wanted to fix the shifting and you liked the truck then there would be no mention of the Tundra, even if you did like it a lot.
    Just sayin'.;)

@penn84 - I would try the OV Tune first. Guaranty that would be so much cheaper than how much the dealer will take you for on the trade.

And assess if you need a full size or not. It might be fine for a day or two to drive around, but it does get to be a chore. By year 2, I was done with it. Good riddance.

The interior of my 2013 tundra (old style) feels way nicer than the new taco. Just my opinion though. I could care less about the “tech” everyone is so hung up on these days.

I agree, when I test drove my tacoma, I was like what the heck, it's nothing like people described on TW. Mine is a 2018 so there's that, but I do know the 18 is leaps and bounds ahead of my 05. I think its a big jump up from my previous one and a great truck, The shifting on mine is smooth and hardly noticeable.

Yeah. My 2001 tundra had much better “premium” materials used in the interior than my Tacoma. But I still like it. Not letting it deter me from loving my truck!

Another poor soul that does not do proper research / test drive and then proceeds to blame the truck.

The tacoma is perfectly fine, the issue is you.

Get your Tundra and be happy. Good luck.

still don't understand why they don't get a better fuel efficient motor in those things? the F150 gets great gas mileage and is a good truck..

I only took about a 10 mile test drive but I knew what I wanted going in and got my 16 and love it. No complaints and it runs great...

"I think there are alot of people on this site that are in denial about the Tacoma."

Does anyone on here TEST DRIVE their vehicles before they pay over $35,000 for them??? Don't know what threads are worse.... " My Tacoma sucks (insert reason here) " or "Which Tacoma should I get...the 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder"

TEST DRIVE YOUR VEHICLES BEFORE BUYING THEM!!!!...so you don't come on here asking stupid questions or bitching about the truck when a long TEST DRIVE would have given you all the information you would have needed to make a well informed decision. Ok, I just wanted to get that off my chest:annoyed:

Agreed, though there are things that aren't apparent until you've spent several weeks of seat time. When I bought my first one, I had no idea the sunroof would rob that much headroom. I must have had the seat in a weird position, but after months of my hair scraping the roof, it got pretty annoying.

I still can't get over the gas mileage of the Tundra. It's appalling.
