i have a 2018 tacoma for about 5 months and I noticed a leak from the head liner. I took it to the dealer and I got a call from service today and they told me a drain tube was clogged.

It is only a 4 month old truck. How is this possible? Is this a normal occurrence? I am not happy about this.

    Sunroofs are a PITA.

My wife's old Jetta used to do this all the time. I used to open the front doors, locate the rubber end of the drain tube down below the A pillar in the door jamb which was like a pinch valve, and squeeze that. If was often gummed up with bio debris and would then gush out like I has lanced an abscess.

If you live in a state with no plants or dirt, it might be a different issue.

Do you by chance have a roof rack too? Seems really odd that a drain tube would be clogged with it being brand new.

I've had my '17 for just over a year now with 10k miles on it and I haven't had any issues with my sunroof. That would piss me off if I did. The sunroof was a must have for me when I was shopping for a Tacoma. Not because I need a sunroof I just think it's cool to have.

My wife’s 15’ charger has a sunroof. It’s all good unless you forget to close it before shutting the engine off. If you do, there’s a sequence of button presses you have to master to close the damn thing. It’s a pita and wish it was never invented!

yes I do park under a tree but my sun roof is closed. I just dont understand how the drain tube can get clogged after 4 or 5 months of owning the vehicle.

All depends on where you live and where you park.

Every vehicle I've ever owned from a 73 Super Beetle to a 2017 Mercedes all had issues with pollen, dust, grime etc...clogging the drain tubes.

    Fuck a sunroof.

When I parked my Civic outside I had to clean out the drain tube once or twice a year.

Sunroofs leak a bit by design. So there is always a bit of drippage going into those drains. The trees dont help. I was foisted with a mandatory sunroof on my previous vehicle. They need occasional cleaning and conditioning ofnthe seals.

Actually, drain holes to help channel water away to help in sealing is generally a good design, especially for cars with gull-wing doors.
