I think his point was a Ridgeline would be a better fit. Like someone commuting 200 miles a day on pavement would be better served by a Corolla than driving a Taco.

Ridgeline isn’t a bad truck. I wouldn’t take one to Moab but general hauling duties, schlepping people around, it’s pretty nice actually.

    Wow. Clever.
Different sales demographic in Canada. Station wagons are, and always have been popular in here, as have small cars. Guess who has always made station wagons? Even available with manual transmissions still.
You missed the point about the Subaru sales rising, while Toyota sales actually dropped in the past year.
Subaru makes a product that people want, regardless of your inane banter and stereotypes. You can't argue with figures.

I believe he is referring to a Subaru commercial we were talking about earlier. It literally has a couple walking in the woods with a blind man and listening to whales.

My apologies (honestly) got rid of cable tv decades ago, so unaware of TV ads. Only seen the occasional one here on the intrawebs and they are fairly innocuous.
Just youtubed it, that was really pretty dumb.
I hate emotional ads on either end of the spectrum, either super macho truck ads or bunny hugging Subaru ads.

Doesn't do terribly well below 2500 on the freway unless flat or no headwind so I usually downshift around 60(65 if it's a hill). Around town you can pretty much shift as you please anywhere from 2000 on up, depends on your level of patience. I try to avoid getting below 1500 in the next gear as it lugs(much higher on steeper hills, can need to hit 3500 or more to make it into 2nd). I've wound it up but it seems silly to do that most of the the time. I have the 5MT which obviously will be different from your 6MT.

It's okay, it is human nature to make assumptions and argue over minutia online. As I said, I have purchased three new Subarus since 1999 and would like to buy another for my wife, but the ads are such a turn off and I'm sick of people joking if we are crunchy hippies or lesbians for owning one. What other car has gender preferences jokes attached to it? Seriously, can they come up with a new ad campaign that doesn't alienate existing loyal customers?

Typically between 3,000-3,500rpm, but the last week or so I've been trying out shifting at 2,500rpm when possible to see what impact on fuel economy it has.
The only Subaru without that stigma attached is the WRX. But instead if you have one of those everyone thinks you're some douche bag dude-bro who vapes constantly.

Not too far from the 6MT. I shift at 2500 for gentle relaxed driving on flats. I'll shift closer to 3000 for small hills and more spirited driving and 3500 for freeways and larger hills.

Saw a Chevy the other day with "fuck your prius" on the rear window. I think people just tend to find objects in common to focus all their frustration on. It's dangerous since there are plenty who would manipulate that for their own ends. When you find yourself dumping on something like that you might want to step back and ask why. So called "manly" adds are no different from the "warm and fuzzy" ones in that both are attempting to hit triggers but just target different demographics so obviously the reaction will be different depending on which target is painted on your noggin.

For me, if I only had one vehicle, I would not get a 4 cylinder. It's just so damn slow, great little motor, but just slow. To get it moving you have to really lay into the pedal. I have a 4 cyl. and use it for kayaking, biking, household-yard work things, drive it to the airport or train station, etc. Maybe use it to commute twice a week and during inclement weather. Around town driving the power is fine. Everything besides the engine, and some quality issues, I really like.

i do believe if I had the 6 cyl. I'd probably use it as a DD and get rid of my Porsche Macan or maybe not.....

    Couldn't agree more.
Who gives a sh!t what you drive.
I never got the Prius hating. I mean do people LIKE paying for gas?
It works both ways, I don't particularily like those stickers that say "I heart biodiesel" either. They're pretentious.
I have no stickers on my truck whatsoever.
I also have no hate for Harley Davidson riders ( I ride a dual sport). I look like a hi-viz Marvin the Martian. I don't care. I am 42 with a kid. Being cool is much more than appearance. You can't buy "cool".
I'll suspend up my opinion based on my meeting someone, not where they are from or what they drive. I've been burned too many times. Drive whatever the hell you like.

If you could only have one vehicle? Like if you were stuck on an island and had infinite fuel but could only bring one vehicle? The 4 would probably be your best choice, as they aren’t air dropping coolant pipes, CPS’s, high pressure fuel pumps etc

My 2 cents I regret getting an sr 4 cylinder access cab, under powered(towing wise) and limited space, but I was also in a bad situation with transportation if I could do it again I would buy a v6 dcsb
