I picked up some 25 gal Husky containers https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-25-Gal-Latch-and-Stack-Tote-in-Black-206131/303099674 with some masterlocks. I also got a 20ft security cable that I run through those locks and onto a point on the bed. Like someone mentioned down further, having everything mounted definitely makes it hard to pull anything out so going forward i may only put a lock on the outside and then run the cable across the tent (over it) and then wrapped on the bars. Locked at the tie down points on each corner. Someone will need some tools and some time to get stuff out. So, yeah, society.

KB has said that the powder coat issues are a "thing of the past". I hope he is right as I just ordered the Hi-Risers. The utility racks are a bit more $$ than I can justify for bikes, skis, paddle boards and a smaller RTT. Hopefully he's not blowing smoke. I can't find any anecdotes of peeling paint from recent purchases. Anyhoo....

Can’t you have it shipped raw and coat it locally?

Maybe my faith is misplaced, maybe not, but I'll take him at his word that the issue is fixed. Will find out soon enough.

Got it! Actually, I was thinking of adding one to put a security cable through. I don't have tubes the way your system does as I have the CBI overland bars so they are squared.

I thought about that but the whole point of this set up over say a shell or gofastcamper is being able to remove everything as the truck is my DD.
Also been meaning to ask those who never take it off, is washing the truck a challenge? or am I missing something obvious ? :)

Appreciate the clarification, and that's one sweet truck you have.

My bed rack is always installed (obvious reasons). I don't take my truck to regular car washes because I don't want to find out the hard way if it'll make it out no problem. I usually wash it myself or take it to a touchless carwash for a quick wash. Screenshot_20180925-133131_Gallery.jpg

I was probably not clear. I don't plan on removing the bars/rack (unless I need to use the full bed) but rather I was referring to the RTT. I got a smittybilt and it has a vinyl cover, but the bottom is exposed. It seems like you generally could get away with washing it yourself but on my set up it definitely bumps close to the rear window.

I don't wanna lie to you and say you'll be fine. I personally didn't feel comfortable taking my whole set up through a carwash mostly for safety reasons. I will tell you that I've had my RTT installed during downpours and never had an issue.

Does the RTT interfere with the shark fin antenna signal at all if mounted on the cab?

Thanks for your feedback! That makes sense, I wouldn't do the car wash thing either. But it seems like even a regular wash at home would be challenging. I know it'll go through the paces outdoors in storms and what not.

Can you open the flap on the window at the cab or do the hold open bars hit the cab? Thanks.
