Too late. Just ordered a set of General AT/X 285/75/16. Should be here next week. Got all 4 for $603 shipped. Used Generals on my truck all through college and they worked great so we’ll see how these hold up. Just couldn’t resist the ebay sale today. I guess their marketing worked. Haha.

I have maxxis I'm ~20k miles and prolly have a little less than half life left. I will say that one tire had a tread belt break or something and it got all kinda funky across the top of the tread (I thought my wheel bearing had gone out and I ordered a replacement that I never installed after I got a new tire... I should probably find that thing...) But I had road hazard so I got a new tire installed for like $100 ($180 per tire +install or something originally)

 

I understand the benefits of tall and skinny tires, but I feel that the width of the 285 outweighs the pros of tall and skinny around here. The extra tire witdth on tight trails is very nice to have and will prevent body damage

 

That’s why I ordered 285s this time around. I was running the 255s Cooper offered. I like how the 285s look as well. Skinny tires just don’t look as mean when viewed from the front....

 

Also, another thing that turned me away was the inability to find them locally. If you slash a tire and something happens to your spare, you are hosed. 285/75r16 is a very popular tire across the board

 

Agreed. Main reason I didn’t order a fifth tire as a spare. Going to just find one locally used. I know myself well enough to tell you I wouldn’t rotate that fifth new tire in enough to make buying a new one worth it. Lol.

 

Yep! I found a guy selling 2 used Mastercraft MXTs (similarish to STT pro) and ended up with full size spares for two people for $20 each.

 

That’s awesome. I remember trying to find a used 255 and it was impossible. Looking forward to being normal again. Haha.

Speaking of which, anyone want a used set of 255/85 r16 Cooper STT Max tires? 25% tread left. Be off the truck by next Thursday.

 

I know @whitedlite was thinking about getting them at one point, but I’m not sure now.

I’ve got a 2001 Suzuki DRZ400S. Not even close to stock anymore. From the factory it was pig. But I couldn’t pass up the deal when I bought it a couple years ago. My last bike was a plated CRF450x. Loved it. Hated the maintenance intervals.
