First time camping in ours. Won't be the last! Took off the week last week and went to Black Canyon of the Gunnison...stayed a night nearby (camping not pictured).
    IMG_1700.jpg
Spent a night in a beautiful desert valley in Utah that we had completely to ourselves. Didn't see another person all night!
    IMG_1703.jpg
    IMG_1710.jpg
Took to the Grand Canyon for the first time, this was our eventual goal...to see it and explored on foot a bit. Camping was junk...packed like office cubicles! View was worth it though.
    IMG_1737.jpg
On the way back, we spent a night near Pagosa Springs, CO, nice little river flowing about 40' from our camp site.
    IMG_1753.jpg
Great time, despite all the driving. Next time we are going to find a place closer to home, but still in the mountains...and bring the pooch.

Anyone have any good spots for the Grand canyon? Want to drive up there for an over night trip, must be able to use my rtt and such. ( Looking for near it, not in the canyon)

Before you enter the Nat'l Park South entrance there is open (like at large) camping. I do not know the names of the roads or such but it is south of the town of Tusayan.

There are so many places to go there.

Nice! I miss that part of MN, especially Voyageur! First time I've missed a BWCA trip in years.

It's a great part of the state if you can get a campground, we usually go early or late summer when they aren't booked solid. Bunch of great beer spots and you can hit 4-5 parks in a trip if you want.

    Hope you get back soon!

That's what I am hoping for, some dispersed camping areas, as i have a RTT and it doesn't always work well with established camp sites, AND they're all booked lol.

South Rim has (I stand corrected, it USED TO have) a walk up, no reservation campsite(s) near the laundry.
Mather campground. Maybe you can call, I stayed there many times as a walk up. Showed up early in the morning.

I am sure Arizona locals can help more.

    Outside the Park (South Rim)

Reservations are not accepted for campsites at Desert View Campground
Campsites are on a first come - first served basis
The campground is usually full by 12 noon.

Need some RTT expertise. I have a trifold bed cover (ultra flex) so I think a rack to mount a tent is out of the question. I have a 5x8 enclosed cargo trailer I use to carry all my camping stuff and got to thinking that perhaps I could mount an RTT to the trailers roof. Does anyone know if this is a feasible idea? I'm not sure it can support the weight and I have no idea what kind of support structure would attach to the trailer in order to mount the tent. Just wondering if anybody in the TW has tried this

    Pictures of the trailer?

Also, there are racks that go under the tonneau from the sides and spread the weight on the sides of the bed instead of the tonneau. Check out the below post of someone with a diamondback that is using them. If they can clear a diamondback, they'll probably clear yours.

I have done this. Depends on the type of trailer you have. Some trailer roofs have been reinforced. Mine was not. So I had a rack built that was attached the frame of the trailer. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Your a busy man. Just another reason I never wanted to own my own business. Everybody thinks you can take off whenever you want to but don't realize all the extra work you have to do.

That's for sure. In the begining you struggle to make a name for yourself. Then, you grow just enough to allow you to have income to do the finer things in life. The fun stuff, time with family, friends and enjoying the adventures that sound good to you. Then one day you wake up and BAM! You have no time for fun. My goal is to figure time that balance again.

Enough of my rambling, this is a camping thread. Let's see some more camping pictures.

I have the exact same trailer sans color. How did you go about fabricating the rack? Who does this sort of thing?
